Boston (You’re My IoT Startup Home). This is my first post in over two years. Slacker. In that 24-month gap I wrapped up my PhD in computational neuroscience. Helped jumpstart “brains for bots” startup Neurala. And consulted for some amazing Boston tech companies in Cambridge this year. What I’ve learned in the past few years is that Boston has a vibrant and exciting startup community that is thriving! Whether it’s the cream of the crop at TechStars. There is a lot happening in this city.

Home is where the pottery is. Our beautiful studio loft is located in Boston’s Fort Point Channel. It’s our favorite neighborhood in the city, though we have no idea why it is called Fort Point. Perhaps during ye olde revolutionary time there was a sturdy fort here. Recently, it’s also been called the Innovation District! Regardless, we love our ‘hood’ and are thankful for the lovely sea breeze and bright light. We enjoy visitors too! 369 Congress Street, Floor #2. Boston, MA 02210 {click here for a map}.

Reflections on volunteering, working and living in Boston's nonprofit world. All’s Fair in… Money and Politics? April 12, 2014. On Monday, I attended a conference at Northeastern University about local philanthropy. I. Learned a lot about Massachusetts’ “ gateway cities. For the day was collaboration. It makes sense to focus on collective impact, though the event left me reflecting on how much nonprofits do to attract and keep funding, like needing to make partnerships with other organizations. A documen...
