A wildly successful hybrid of science fiction and mystery, 'Altered Carbon' shouldn't be missed by fans of either genre. Hey, it could have been a lot worse. mindless and pointless - yes, but absolutely terrible? Kill bill vol. 2. Dawn of the dead.

dragonsworn [movie review] - Shrek 2
http://www.dragonsworn.com/reviews/movies/shrek2.html
Like, 3 people. this box isn't that big. Antonio banderas, john cleese, cameron diaz, eddie murphy, mike myers. Full of intelligent jokes and some snappy lines. superb voice acting, imaginative settings and new characters. it's pretty damn cute. Not quite the same innocent allure as the first movie. seems a little short, another fifteen or twenty minutes would have been great. Luckily, we can put that question to rest with a resounding 'YES! Fiona is insistent, and Shrek eventually relents. Accompani...

dragonsworn [movie review] - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
http://www.dragonsworn.com/reviews/movies/prisonerofazkaban.html
Harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban. Rupert grint, gary oldman, daniel radcliffe, emma watson. More of what we like. some excellent scenery, and great special effects. good atmosphere, and thankfully less quidditch. Inevitably missing some scenes from the books. hogwarts isn't as visually realized as before. actors have trouble with a darker tone. Like it's taking place in Hogwarts, familiar characters nonwithstanding. We're missing those warm fuzzy holiday shots of the visually intimidating sch...

dragonsworn [book review] - Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood
http://www.dragonsworn.com/reviews/books/oryxandcrake.html
Includes a guide for deeper reading, and an insightful essay by Atwood, as well as an excellent interview. A great imagination. a believable future world. excellent writing. a wholly dark novel. very interesting science. Some more resolution would have been nice. characters aren't fully explored. novel isn't developed as far as it could have been. The main narrative of the novel is Snowman's fragmented memories of his past; before he. As mentioned, the main thrust of the plot is focused on 'Then', instea...

dragonsworn [fiction]

The last lament of the sun. Rome is in chaos, its streets overrun by a barbarian horde. one young woman tries desperately to save herself as the great city burns. This story contains plenty of blood and violence, and a dash of profanity - just to even things out. if that's not your cup of tea, then use some common sense and don't read it. It's carnival time in Mortanegra. problem is, few of the living remain to enjoy it. maybe, just maybe, there'll be even fewer by dawn. Please keep in mind we do.
