The intrepid food critic

It was suggested to me that I should try my hand at being a food critic. Well actually I fancy myself a bit of a food expert (not a cooking expert mind you) and, like always, the suggestion is a good one. I have been keeping a food photo diary anyway, taking pictures of almost everything I eat while travelling so I have a vast library of (weird) food pictures and a little book full of interesting restaurants and things to eat.

The intrepid food critic. Tuesday, June 01, 2010. A lot of tourists will find Gent. On their to-do list when visiting Flanders and with good reason. For a lot of people Brugge is the place to be, but I think Gent edges out the Venice of the North. It is much more a real city instead of just a beautiful museum like experience. Anyway… if you happen to visit it, a good place for breakfast (and sleeping as well apparently since it is a B&B) is Brooderie. And the rather nice fruit muesli breakfast.

The intrepid food critic. Monday, January 18, 2010. London Royal China Dim Sum. Haaaa…. Dim Sum. Anyway… like always, big European cities offer a better chance to find good Dim Sum restaurants. In Paris they can probably be found (I will check later when I go to Paris) around the Asian area ( Place d’Italie. And in London they seem to be a bit distributed all over the city. The intrepid food critic. Tuesday, June 15, 2010. We have a good selection of South American restaurants in Brussels. One of my favourite is a small place offering rather small portions, a bit like tapas, but a few weeks ago I went to a “proper” restaurant called Los Ponchos.
