In this model I wanted to use tones of green and blue to contrast the green spheres. In order to make to model more playful I had to green balls move through the silver rings and mesh forms. I focused the light of the sun in the background as a way to add a steady glow to the reflective walls.

ARCH 423: Contours & Cages

http://iriepie.blogspot.com/2007/02/contours-cages.html

Thursday, February 1, 2007. A lunar lander or a crystal ball? February 5, 2007 at 12:14 PM. This is another magical image. I enjoyed seeing how you are working with the spheres, giving them a kind of iridescence. I'm really glad that you have such a great sensitivity to colored lilght - it really contributes to the subtle complexity that holds our attention. Hope you don't mind if I mention one more thing. If you change the view from an axonometric to a perspective, it will look more realistic.

ARCH 423: Shredded Light

http://iriepie.blogspot.com/2007/02/shredded-light.html

Friday, February 23, 2007. I really like the explorations that you did with the paper lanterns. By building on the architectural origami, you got a headstart. Integrating in curves rather than only sharp bends gives your final projects a nice feel. I was also pleasantly surprised at he use of color. There is a beautiful book of studies on reflected light called Dimensional Color". February 24, 2007 at 5:06 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

ARCH 423: Light In Suspension

http://iriepie.blogspot.com/2007/01/texture-mapping.html

Monday, January 29, 2007. That's a neat little room you created. You've motivated me to make my own home for my luminaire. I feel like I'm peeking into a shoebox. January 30, 2007 at 9:17 AM. I was delighted to see how you created an inhabitable environment from the ideas you put into Assignment 2. It looks like you got a color shift when you posted the overall image. Check to make sure that you were not authoring in CMYK color mode - it gets distorted in conversion to RGB. February 1, 2007 at 12:35 AM.

I focused the light of the sun in the background as a way to add a steady glow to the reflective walls. January 18, 2007 at 11:51 AM. I can't tell if you have turned the shadows on - since you have such unusual textures and screens. January 21, 2007 at 9:03 PM. Working Model - Assignment 3.

Architectural Computer Graphics: Rendering

http://archgraphics.blogspot.com/2006/09/rendering.html

Friday, September 22, 2006. I tested two files with the Kerkythea renderer and found the program quite easy to use. The software allows you to place simple lights, adjust views and materials and then it creates nice quality renderings. The top images are from a Rhino model I made this summer and the bottom is their demo file that I altered a bit. Kerkythea free and it works with many kinds of 3D models. Perhaps next I will try the Blender 3D modeler. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 2006 New Years Card.

Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Click image to get animation showing how moving a shade can make a dramatic difference in the cast shadow. The curved background distorts the shadow as the shade gets closer to it. Some notes on texture maps:. 1) Using texture maps. Images can be used in place of modeling: as surface textures and as transparency filters. For the advanced: can you place a decal onto a wall? See graffiti tutorial in FormZ. 2) Control Light Settings. Directional light: parallel rays.

Friday, September 22, 2006. 2006 New Year's Card. I'm usually busy in December and only manage to get a New Year's card out. This year's card features plants from a botanical garden in Sweden. I need to explore how to organize the model for most successful control of material assignments. For the models that I tested without clear object labels, it was hard to find parts to texture. Kerkythea free and it works with many kinds of 3D models. Perhaps next I will try the Blender 3D modeler.
