Calling ALL "old technology" technophiles AND FANS of STRONG FEMALE LEADS in silent cinema. I've been watching silent films mostly from early opera singers and other women actresses who worked in Hollywood such as Geraldine Farrar and Mary Garden. I'm also looking into early talkies of figures, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich. So far I'm intrigued with how early cinema developed with some of these great films as a young Cecil B. DeMille's Carmen. And Von Sternberg's films of Dietrich. Post a new comment.

He's there for five minutes! Later, we learn Shosho was killed, but was it Mabel or someone else? Too bad Mabel steps in to dramatically tell the court how she visited Shosho and it was she who brought the gun, etc. But she fainted, so she didn't kill Shosho.then who did? He lives lon...

I was taken aback when she fought me tooth-and-nail (or perhaps I should say, carrot and celery due to the vegetarian restaurant) about the possibility of a woman figure in public culture who was completely in power. "THE DIVA? Why turn away from such a figure, just because she doesn't fit in with our ideas of women's social struggle? If we take the s...
