Muck welcomes visitors all year round, and you can travel from Arisaig and Mallaig. From Arisaig (summer months only). Arisaig Marine operates highly successful wildlife cruises to the Small Isles. The MV Sheerwater visits Muck four times a week, offering single or return trips to the island with time ashore to explore on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Isle of Muck breeds Highland ponies on a small scale, and had a stallion called Strathmashie Seumas Mhor , who ran with a number of brood mares. All of the foals are registered with the Highland Pony Society. Some of the original Highland ponies originated from the Isle of Rum, where they were used to carry stags and hinds off the hill. This native breed is particularly suited to this job since they have strength, hardiness, and a quiet nature.
