Having watched a couple of Dickens' classics on film over the holiday - I'm reminded how unremittingly miserable the existence was of most of his characters. Did David Copperfield ever have any moments of light heartedness - hardly a one. Checked out Oliver Twist, looking for laughs - nothing. Great Expectations? Now that's much better.

It's A Stock Item. Monday, 8 September 2014. Can we make a pig ark from stock items? With two side struts added, the base was carried up to its first home in the lower field. The end pieces each came out of half a sheet of 18mm ply, with a bolt-secured door. The roof struts which, like the corrugated steel, were leftovers from our old postbarn, were friction fitted to the ends. So there we were. It's A Stock Item. Saturday, 26 March 2016. Installing a window, and fixing a loo. Again I took a Land Rover full of tools, in particular saws of all varieties, electric and hand - but the most used star of this show was my Bosch multitool with its small, oscillating blade. This offers such accurate and reliable cutting that most of the window work and the cutting out of a door opening from one stall to the next were achieved without even changing the blade.
