June 30, 2009 by hoveactually. 5 Things I love about summer. 1 The sound of wood pigeons in the distance. Don’t know why, but the soft cooing sound makes me feel safe and happy. 2 Never wearing socks or shoes. 3 The ridiculously pretty golden, pink and red and green and blue skies when the sun sets. Build a ...

The cult and other essentials. Thoughts of a cynical idealist. Random thoughts, ideas, stuff I like and musings on what this life is all about…. A tea obsessive I currently reside in Hove, actually. I work with students along the stretch of the south coast between Eastbourne and Portsmouth. A perfect day would consist of walks in the country, chats about life with good friends, amazing food and cups of tea, ended off with a sunset walk on the beach. Posts by Kath Arnold:. noearthlycity: profitable insomia
http://noearthlycity.blogspot.com/2010/05/profitable-insomia.html
Sunday, 30 May 2010. Came across this fascinating link when thinking about musical opportunities in years ahead. Http:/ www.calvin.edu/worship/stories/ethnodoxology.php. I particularly enjoyed what various peoples had to say about the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's. Like a jet engine, "crying music" or “not steady.” This last group "wondered how a song with so many high and low pitches and loud and soft volumes could be considered fine art". Ouch. Answering Islam (tough but true). Servant of Jesus Chris...

noearthlycity: June 2010
http://noearthlycity.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 16 June 2010. From my sister-in-law's sister-in-law. The first 10 seconds had me quite bemused and it was a sweet click when it came (must be getting old). Tuesday, 8 June 2010. UCCF is not dull. A very amusing tribute to theologian Wayne Grudem, in the style of Grease. Http:/ thebluefish.org/2008/02/my-karaoke-heroes-aka-south-west-relay.html. Some delightful book plugs inspired by various TV memes and bods buzzing around in 2008. Http:/ www.uccf.org.uk/media/top-10-books.htm. And the penulti...

Wednesday, 16 June 2010. From my sister-in-law's sister-in-law. The first 10 seconds had me quite bemused and it was a sweet click when it came (must be getting old). Answering Islam (tough but true). Chess (trivia, news and games). Church, the Hope one (more life-expansion). Geography: not just maps and crayons. Icarus Redeemed (a rare bird). Pyromanics (punch and pzazz). Two hungry souls (because food is good). UCCF is not dull. Vignettes from the great clear out (5). Last concert with Jane.

noearthlycity: vignettes from the great clear out (5)
http://noearthlycity.blogspot.com/2010/06/vignettes-from-great-clear-out-5.html
Tuesday, 8 June 2010. Vignettes from the great clear out (5). Versions 1 and 2 of a Film/TV Music quiz. The earlier one is on faded old manuscript paper in my childish hand, and was performed by me and Ad on piano and euphonium at the Widcombe Baptist Church New Year's Eve party and talent show in 1992 (or maybe 1993). One of our finest collaborations. Completing. On the X-Box a couple of years ago is not far behind, especially given my incompetence at such games. The later version was longer (32 themes!

http://noearthlycity.blogspot.com/2010/06/vignettes-from-great-clear-out-3.html
Thursday, 3 June 2010. Vignettes from the great clear out (3). Very neatly organised in swanky plastic wallets, the old notes from a Pilgrim Homes. Conference on elderly people in the church, whih a team from Rock went to a few years back. Brought back memories of a care home close to my heart, Bridgemead. An old L'Abri cassette catalogue - listing all sorts of interesting letures I shall not have time for! Answering Islam (tough but true). Chess (trivia, news and games). Icarus Redeemed (a rare bird).
