Looking for a path...: August 2013

Looking for a path. Saturday, 31 August 2013. Stinchcombe Show Poetry Prize Entry. Memories of Stinchcombe Wildlife. The low first light of the day yielding shadows. With no depth, small sounds of life merge into. The consciousness of dawn; the rustle of leaves. As blackbirds search for a first meal, a clatter. As wood pigeons lurch clumsily into the air, the. Distant call of a cuckoo breaks into stillness,. Which descends once more as the mist rolls. The dew lies heavy today, rich droplets on fauna.

Looking for a path...: February 2013

Looking for a path. Tuesday, 26 February 2013. Q: If you could give any advice for the day, what would it be? Walk, don’t run. That’s it. Walk, don’t run. Slow down, breathe. Deeply, and open your eyes because there’s. A whole world right here within this one. The. Bush doesn’t suddenly catch on fire, it’s been. Burning the whole time. Moses is simply moving. Slowly enough to see it. And when he. Does, he takes off his sandals. Not because. The ground has suddenly become holy, but. Neither is busyness,.

Before the service, the Vicar, as agreed, made an announcement:.

Looking for a path...: July 2013
http://distant-mountain.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Looking for a path. Monday, 22 July 2013. I had a bit of a shock on Friday. I occasionally pop into Standish Parish Church at lunchtime as it's only a short drive from where I work. It had been a couple of weeks since I was last there, when I had placed a kneeler in front of the altar rail. When I returned today, the kneeler was still there. This was a surprise. I suppose that they must only have had small services since I was last there. So I knelt, met God and prayed. Looking for a path. Pray as you go.

Looking for a path...: Sermon for May 25th 2014
http://distant-mountain.blogspot.com/2014/05/sermon-for-may-25th-2014.html
Looking for a path. Tuesday, 27 May 2014. Sermon for May 25th 2014. First sermon preached at my home church (only the second ever) on May 25. May I speak in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. I have seen a vision, alleluia! Okay, I thought, which day is it today? The sermon and pewsheet made it quite clear that this was Pentecost. Right, so, on the day when we recall the Holy Spirit being delivered to the apostles after Jesus had ascended to his father, I saw flames moving, in church ...
