An untidy web hatches baby red-backs. Red-back spiderlings take to flight. By the light of the moon. Through a rustle of leaves. Red-back spiderlings float on the breeze. Like bubble bath foam. Red-back spiderlings search for a home. Left to their fate red-back spiderlings. A clippity cloppity dog. A hippity hoppity dog.

Poetry and tips by…. Children's poet – Jackie Hosking. A little bit about me…. Writing in verse is not as easy as it may first appear. There are three parts to writing publishable verse…. Your story or your theme is the most important element. Next comes the meter or the rhythm of your verse. The rhyme should be incidental, an added bonus, not the main player. Too many overused words…. Came, went, walk, sat etc. Poetry is an economical medium. If someone is walking, how are they walking? As black as night.

Squid boats see the day begin. Licks the dunes with orange glow. As I’m poised on tippy-toe. Sandy canvass meets the shore. What I will draw. One step, two step round it goes. Swirls with sand between the toes. Soon, with artists all around. Squealing children in the sun. Painting patterns as they run. Sand and broken shells.
