Artisan Wine on a Budget: Moutard-Diligent Irancy, 2009
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2015/05/moutard-diligent-irancy-2009.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Friday, May 15, 2015. Moutard-Diligent Irancy, 2009. This Pinot Noir from an area just south of Chablis was another of my favorites at the French wine tasting presented by Soif Distributors. It impressed me not because of its size but because of its lack of such. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What Is Artisan Wine? St Hallett Barossa Gamekeepers Red, 2010. Artisan Wine on a Budget: August 2014
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Saturday, August 30, 2014. Domaine de la Tourade Cotes du Rhone, 2011. Wine is all about the moment- the moment you choose to pop the cork. After more than 30 years of popping corks and drinking wine, I can't say that I pick the right moment less than half the time. Sometimes I pop the cork prematurely; too often, I wait too long. With this Tourade Cotes du Rhone, I can say confidently that I picked right moment. Links to this post. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 27, 2014.

Artisan Wine on a Budget: October 2014
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Monday, October 20, 2014. Domaine de la Tourade Vacqueyras, 2008. Whether because of the vintage or the producer, this Vacqueyras is more elegant and less rustic than most of its peers. It's really at a good stage for drinking right now. Links to this post. As Sortes Val do Bibei Valdeorras Godello, 2007. The wine is ripe upfront and then dances sprightly down the tongue, leaving a lovely multifaceted finish. More limestone minerality. I can still taste the sea breeze fr...This ...

Artisan Wine on a Budget: February 2015

Artisan Wine on a Budget. Thursday, February 19, 2015. Domaine des Pasquiers Cotes du Rhone Villages, 2007. Links to this post. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Les Trois Couronnes Gigondas, 2007. One taster reported that this wine had Syrah flavors wrapped in Pinot. I think that is generally a description of good Gigondas. And this is a good one, even though it comes from a cooperative and I paid only $11 for it. Links to this post. Saturday, February 14, 2015. Many tasters, particularly those who don't ha...

Artisan Wine on a Budget: Mas de Daumas Gassac Languedoc Rouge, 2012
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2015/05/mas-de-daumas-gassac-languedoc-rouge.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Friday, May 15, 2015. Mas de Daumas Gassac Languedoc Rouge, 2012. This was one of several wines presented by Soif Distributors of Detroit at a French wine tasting last night presented by Salut wines of Kalamazoo. A highly regarded but not very well known wine, Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge is made from a field blend that is primarily Cabernet but also 19 other grape varieties, including Syrah, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Montepulciana. Artisan Wine on a Budget: November 2014
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Ca' Rome' Romano Marengo Barbaresco, 1999. This 1999 Barbaresco was a worthy companion to the 1970 Barolo (see below) that preceded it. Nebbiolo, in my opinion, is one of the best wine grapes for aging, developing a range of subtle and constantly changing smells and flavors.I'm sure this Barbaresco will probably continue to age well, but it is too good to resist right now. Artisan Wine on a Budget: September 2014
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Thursday, September 25, 2014. Beso de Vino Carinena, 2011 (85% Syrah, 15% Grenache). Proclaiming your Tanzer score (International Wine Cellar) on the neck label is not subtle. But the wine is. And that's probably why Steve Tanzer awarded it 90 points and called it an outrageous value for $8 to $10 a bottle. Probably unoaked, 13.5% alcohol. Links to this post. Veglio Barbera d'Alba, 2012. This is not Barolo or Barbaresco, but it has many of the same haunting qualities: dark cherr...

Artisan Wine on a Budget: Domaine de la Tourade Vacqueyras, 2008
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2015/05/domaine-de-la-tourade-vacqueyras-2008.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Friday, May 8, 2015. Domaine de la Tourade Vacqueyras, 2008. I have been impressed by every wine I have had from Domaine de la Tourade. The 1998 Gigondas was particularly memorable, and I was able to buy enough of this 2008 Vacqueyras at close-out prices to enjoy it frequently. 2008 was not a good year for the Southern Rhone, but the winemaker did a good job of staying within the limits of the fruit he was working with. Artisan Wine on a Budget: Francoise et Denis Clair Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes-de-Beaune, 2005
http://artisanwine.blogspot.com/2015/05/francoise-et-denis-clair-bourgogne.html
Artisan Wine on a Budget. Friday, May 8, 2015. Francoise et Denis Clair Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes-de-Beaune, 2005. I opened this Hautes-Cotes-de-Beaune soon after the Acacia specifically to make an unbiased comparison. And after the first night, I was leaning toward the New World wine. The Burgundy takes longer to open and is less fragrant. Very dry on the palate; is the fruit fading? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What Is Artisan Wine?
