Wednesday, March 25, 2015. To Utah and Back. Last weekend I drove to a poultry show in Utah. That's 700 miles, one way. Made it in 9 hours. Once you get out of the highway madness that abounds in California, you just set the cruise control to 85 and sail along. At least that's what I do in my zippy Rav4. It was a pretty nice drive. Sunday, August 30, 2015. If you ever worked for a newspaper, or for a quality type shop, or as an editor, you must wonder – as I do – who is on duty on the internet on the weekend. I'm thinking maybe a 12 year old boy. The only way a headline like the one above would have made it to print at any place I ever worked is if a smartass typesetter did it on purpose and snuck it in. Monday, July 27, 2015. The birds did well at the State Fair. Didn't win the Golden Bear for Best of Show, but they won:. 5 first place ribbons. Reserve Bantam of the Show. Reserve Large Fowl of the Show. Best Large Fowl of the Show. The winnings were a bag full of ribbons and a plaque. I think there is some premium money, too, but I don't know how much.
