Build A New Box. Makers, Creators, Designers, Problem Solvers. Shout out to these folks I got to learn from during the conference. check their blogs:. It was so cool to see their presentations and what they do with their kiddos. A big thing I want to infuse is more technology use through student digital portfolios, artist statements, 3D printing, and more digital art (I know one thing at a time - I just get so excited.). Another shout out to the Jack Richeson and Co. folks. The interview tied so well to ...

This year was amazing! The Field Trips, the unconventional approaches to ideas, and most Scholastic Awards in BCWMS history are just a few of the highlights. To cement this International Holiday this year, two students wrote and filmed the melody you can view above. It helped make Scone Day 2015 an epic one to remember! January marked the 5th year anniversary of this blog&#...

Grades determine GPA, which determines the top 10%, which could mean automatic acceptance into a state college, etc., etc., etc. It’s a vicious cycle that personally I dislike. A lot. Did your artwork have 3 lines and 6 warm colors? How well are you understanding the process? How are you improving yo...

TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! Say Yes to Drawing Tests in Art! June 10, 2015. A concern that I have heard about having a choice-based or TAB art studio is that students don’t ever work on skills–including observational drawing skills. I would like to address this particular concern. My students work on observational skills…every 2 weeks. How do they do this you might ask? Well, let me tell you…with a drawing test. Here is the low-down:. Many class sets of objects. I use ...

First Week, Again. 7th and 8th grade students worked with clay on the first day to create bowls from soft slabs and paper molds. Started second semester this week with a new batch of students. It is always fun to get a chance for a fresh start in the middle of the year with kids who are ready to get their hands mixed up in media. Just like every other first day. We made sure to spend it immersed in clay as we created bowls for our annual Empty Bowls. Event which is held on March 19th. Ana may only have t...
