Bio | jasonkincaid.net
https://jasonkincaid.net/about
Less style, some substance. The standard bio is below, but here’s the gist:. I grew up on computers and video games, am fascinated by science (evolution and genetics, in particular), and wrote for TechCrunch for a long time. I’m a tech guy by trade, but here, I write about whatever strikes my fancy. As a full-blooded Millennial, Jason Kincaid knows that Millennials like Gifs. He is hip with it. Chairman Julius Genachowski, Senator Al Franken, Google VP. And now Yahoo CEO. Marissa Mayer, Facebook CEO.

Less style, some substance. May 28, 2013. November 18, 2013. My friend Hunter Walk. Asked me a few questions about the early years of TechCrunch (I joined in early 2008, when we were still working out of TC. Founder Michael Arrington’s house). Here’s an excerpt, you can find the full interview, with an introduction from Mike right here. Q: When did you join TechCrunch and how did you originally get connected to the team? I usually tell a sanitized version of this story, but what the hell. August 11, 2016.
Silicon Valley | jasonkincaid.net

Less style, some substance. I had the incredible experience of playing myself in HBO. I wasn’t sure what to write about it, but TechCrunch made things easy on me by asking. For a brief description, repeated below. It was totally surreal, like some kind of drug trip that gave me déjà vu every five minutes. They had the real Disrupt signs, the name tags even the stage itself felt right. Just nuts, right? On all the work that went into building the set. May 28, 2014. May 25, 2015. Less style, some substance. The Burned-Out Blogger’s Guide to PR. My first book, published in Fall 2014. My aim was to capture the bizarre dynamic between tech companies and reporters without putting anyone to sleep. I’m told it’s a quick read. Amazing, Hilarious And Mostly True. TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington. So real it’d make tech writers have flashbacks. Matthew Guay, Techinch. Senior) Writer 2008 2012. Did a number on me, but what a ride. To write a public explanation. The next day.). I was th...
Evernote, the bug-ridden elephant | jasonkincaid.net
https://jasonkincaid.net/2014/01/evernote-the-bug-ridden-elephant
Less style, some substance. Evernote, the bug-ridden elephant. Because I use it so often, I am unusually familiar with the service’s warts. Evernote’s applications are glitchy to the extreme; they often feel as if they’re held together by the engineering equivalent of duct tape. Browser extensions crash, text cursors leap haphazardly across the screen my copy of Evernote’s image editor. As of last month, I am all but sure of it. And so I find myself on December 5, when a meandering session results in an ...

Howdy If you’ve made it here without having read the book. Then forgive me for making the strong suggestion you go read that first. It’s where I put the good parts. What you’ll find here are the left-overs, the bottom of the barrel, the backwash at the end of an otherwise decent beer. Savvy? I’ve also compiled a list of PR resources written by other people, which you can find in Further Reading.
Evernote – – In which I blog about things which I may feel are important at the time.
http://www.baylisscg.org/2014/01/08/evernote.html
Jan 8, 2014. I happen to use Evernote. For a bunch of my day to day tasks. Recently, Jason Kincaid. Wrote a blog post. Detailing his frustrations with it. I’ve not used Evernote long enough to hit any of the bugs described but I’ve certainly encountered my own crop of frustrations. What’s heartening is the response. In which I blog about things which I may feel are important at the time.
Jason Kincaid Exits TechCrunch | Uncrunched

Jason Kincaid Exits TechCrunch. A whole lot of amazing people have left TechCrunch in the last several months. I’m sad to hear that the next to go is Jason Kincaid. His personal blog is here. Who is leaving without firm plans for his next job. I first met Jason in 2008 via Mark Hendrickson. One of my favorite Kincaid memories was when he discovered a new “fax” feature on Facebook that the company had launched just for TechCrunch writers hoping that we noticed it. Jason did. As much as old tech empires co...

Jason Kim Senior Character Artist. This character was an experiment to see what literally mixing sci-fi and fantasy would look like. The concept is that an alien mind-control droid would take over the body of a physically dominant species of a world. Less style, some substance. The Burned-Out Blogger’s Guide to PR. September 11, 2014. July 18, 2016. I published my first book. The seeds for the book were planted years ago, while I was still knee-deep in blogging at TechCrunch, and it feels good to finally get it out of my head (I launched it on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt which was a lot of fun). I’ll be writing more on it soon, but for the time being, here’s an excerpt from my former boss, Michael Arrington’s, review on TechCrunch. May 28, 2014.

Wednesday, September 15, 2010. How To Protect Your Photos When Disaster Strikes Part I. Who was pictured all over the U.S. being rescued from her home in her wheelchair. She was wheeled out of her home with water up to her neck! All in all, it was a very scary situation, and is unbelievable as we stand back and look at the devastation. They had their home gutted of all the carpet, furniture and appliances, which were ruined, and had the walls taken back to the studs four feet up. Friday, August 20, 2010.
