Since my last post my bite has opened a bit more but has been relatively stable since September. That's a good sign! I'm happy to report that my joints have been feeling better lately! My orthodontist said it was due to the shape of the teeth so he did some IPR (shaving of the enamel) between them, and then he also had to do some between the four bottom front teeth because once the space closed I would be biting too heavily in the front. It didn't hurt but it was rather unnerving! It felt like I was going to end up with peg teeth! Or the lack of flossing? Or just the nature of the surgery?

My range of motion is now 40 mm and he said that's right on track and maybe a little better than most (he was probably just being nice, but I'll take it! The BEST news, however, is that he made an appointment to remove my splint in 2 weeks. Yippee! After the splint is removed I will go straight from his office to my orthodontist to have a new continuous wire made for my upper teeth.
