Welcome to my website, I’m so glad you stopped by! Hopefully I will be able to inspire, or at least entertain you with tales of my adventures as a professional triathlete. In case you were wondering, here’s a little bit about me and how I ended up here:. Shortest one in the boat! Ust finished my first Ironman - can I PLEASE sit down now? That’s the first time I realized I might have more potential as a triathlete than I had originally thought and the dream of racing as a professional was born.

Vineman x 2 , 2016-08-14. July was been a busy month! Hanna turned 10 months, I gave my notice at my full-time job (more to come on that in a future blog post), and I raced Vineman…and Vineman! Traveling to races is tough and expensive so I’m so lucky to have two amazing events basically in my backyard! How could I not give both of them a go? I mean, how fun is it, when people ask what you are racing next, to say, “Vineman and Vineman”? First up was the 70.3! I think we had more than the men! I also thou...

Hailey in Training: October 2014
http://haileyintraining.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
The tales of a gal loving life and loving triathlon. From California to Kona and everything in-between. Wednesday, October 15, 2014. On the flight over from the Bay Area, I asked Mark if I was crazy. I won't tell you what he said. Scolded me and told me to sit my rear down and she would get me what I needed. #yesmommy. Coeur gals have HEART! Friday was as calm as it's ever been. Jess and I went for a quick swim, grabbed a latte and then I. And by I, I mean Mark. Pre-swim nutrition: Osmo Pre-Load. Well no...

Friday, September 12, 2014. Mont-Tremblant 70.3 World Championship race. Rich and I flew to Montreal (via Chicago) the Thursday before the race. It was a long travel day but the delay in Chicago was made tolerable by bumping into Jen Harrison. I seriously barely noticed our 90min delay because we were too busy chatting away! Local bike shop in Mont-Tremblant. The lake where we would swim. Race day dawned a chilly 43f so my fingers were numb (in spite of gloves! After I spent a few minutes in transition p...

triathlon training tales: January 2014

Saturday, January 25, 2014. Whole30: day 25 and Coast Ride. Was something I could not wrap my head around. Other alternatives (fruit, nuts, sweet potatoes, eggs) were not as portable given the small backpack we were allowed to take with us. Therefore, we decided to add gluten free Picky bars and Bonk Breakers to the mix. Thanks to a new stash of Nuun goodies, I also continued my plan of drinking Nuun for hydration on the bike. Thanks for keeping me hydrated! The overnight crew leaving from CasaBlanco.

triathlon training tales: Making progress on the bike...
http://jbtriathlon.blogspot.com/2015/01/making-progress-on-bike.html
Monday, January 5, 2015. Making progress on the bike. I shared recently that my theme for 2015 is to get stronger. After 13 seasons of triathlon, my *aerobic engine* is not generally in question, so if I am to extend my athletic boundaries and continue to improve in the coming season, I need a stronger platform. With my physical and adrenal health slowly getting back to 100%, I have been loading up the weight in the gym. Lots of single leg pistol squats (TRX to stabilize). Hang clean to push press. Alter...

Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Life in a dual athlete household. I recently wrote a piece for. An Aussie-based website dedicated to Women in Triathlon that was started by Stef Hanson. The article focused on the joys. and challenges. of training with my beloved! Life in a dual athlete household. Time and his 3. Setting off on a long ride prepping for Kona 13. One might believe the couple that trains and races together, stays together, but it’s hard to train harmoniously when our swim, bike and run sp...
triathlon training tales: Coast Ride 2015: #8
http://jbtriathlon.blogspot.com/2015/01/coast-ride-2015-8.html
Thursday, January 22, 2015. Coast Ride 2015: #8. I've written about the Coast Ride before. just look here. Apparently it was the 8th time that I've done the Coast Ride. which seems crazy to me. The Ride also gets bigger by the year and I heard numbers as high as 225 riders participating in this organized, non-organized ride. In spite of the number of riders, the Coast Ride felt like a small affair for me this year. I rode mostly with Blanco, Beth Gerdes. So here are some of his shots from the ride. It wa...

Media A2 Coursework
Q4 – How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? February 10, 2013. In conclusion, without the use of advanced technology, my short film would not have been as successful within the creation. I was reliant upon technology during the research and production stages. And although I had to educate myself on various programmes, it allowed me to actually create the intended products. Q3 – What have you learned from your audience feedback? The audienc...

My favorite Race (well half of it). My first blog post in almost 10months (oops! Just 7hours ago I crossed the line of CDA 70.3 in 5. I was so excited to be back in CDA this weekend. It is the site of my first Ironman (EVER! IMCDA2007 looked a little different from IMCDA2014 :). This morning, when I woke up at 3:30 AM (ugh, even though my alarm was set for 4:10) I was excited to race. I knew there would be some fast gals on the start line, but that’s always the case now! I decided that I was just going t...
