Jill in Tanzania 2011: Sunday in Arusha

http://jillintanzania2011.blogspot.com/2011/11/sunday-in-arusha.html

Jill in Tanzania 2011. November 03, 2011. Sunday is a fairly quiet day in Tanzania. Shops are closed and most people go to church and spend time with their family. Last Sunday Laura and I went to the English speaking service in the Anglican Cathedral in Arusha and then went for a bit of a walk. The rain, if it comes, seems to be in the form of a late afternoon storm. Mostly the weather is very pleasant but between 3-6pm is quite hot and it's best just to find a shady spot to sit in at that time.

Jill in Tanzania 2011: The Class of 2012

http://jillintanzania2011.blogspot.com/2011/11/class-of-2012.html

Jill in Tanzania 2011. November 05, 2011. The Class of 2012. Unfortunately, St Judes never has enough places for all the children who would like to study here. From September to November each year there is a process in place to ensure that the most deserving children receive the places there are in Class One for the following year. There is no discrimination on the basis of race, tribe, religion or physical disability. One by one they are interviewed and given a series of matching and sequencing tasks.

Jill in Tanzania 2011. October 29, 2011. St Jude's Day 2011. Friday October 28th was St Jude's Day and the school celebrated in style. Around 2,000 students, staff, volunteers and visitors came together to thank God for this school and the changes it has brought and will bring to so many lives. The day began with a mass with the school choir in full gospel mode. After lunch (yes they somehow managed to feed all those people! There was a concert on the magnificently decorated lower primary stage. All staf...

Jill in Tanzania 2011: October 2011

http://jillintanzania2011.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Jill in Tanzania 2011. October 29, 2011. Today, Saturday October 29th Laura and Helen invited me to come along with them to the Snake Park.Well, not just them, they were taking Razia (Laura's sponsored student) and Alex (Helen's step-mother's sponsored student for the day). I was very pleased to come along. It was about a half hour drive out of town and this included going past the airport (which Razia was seeing for the first time) and a Maasai boma. So what could be the final delight? Try to guess befo...

Gratitude in the Middle Ages. Important / Inspiring Links. The Original 365 Days of Grateful Project. My Great Local Church Community. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. V is for vacuum cleaners. Yes the not so humble vacuum cleaner is my pick for the letter V. I am very grateful. That I own a machine that collects dust in such an efficient manner. Gratitude in the Middle Ages. Important / Inspiring Links. The Original 365 Days of Grateful Project. My Great Local Church Community. Monday, October 3, 2011. T is for texting. I think texting is possibly the greatest step forward in communication since the telephone was invented in 1876 and before that, language itself. With friends and family all over the world, face to face communication is just not possible most of the time. Skype and live messaging are good, but require the internet. We often take ...

Gratitude in the Middle Ages. Important / Inspiring Links. The Original 365 Days of Grateful Project. My Great Local Church Community. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. S is for sleep. Life in the middle ages is often associated with an inability to sleep. I am grateful. These days for knowing I have had a stint of three or four hours of slumbering bliss as I peer at the clock radio in the early hours of the morning. I hope you enjoy these quotes about sleep. Sleep that knits up the ravelled sleave of care.

Gratitude in the Middle Ages. Important / Inspiring Links. The Original 365 Days of Grateful Project. My Great Local Church Community. Sunday, December 4, 2011. X is for Xmas Carols. Yes, at this time of year we can become a little jaded about Christmas carols as we are stalked by them just about everywhere we go! Nonetheless they are one of the great traditions of Christmas and I am. For carols that remind us of what Christmas is all about. Actually means dance or a song of praise and joy! Also, at this...
