The exploits of my bicycles and I. The Hub Bicycle Shop. 26 April, 2010. Mansfield O-Cup #1 Race Report. Yesterday was my first race in Sr. Expert, and generally went better than expected. My result was better than expected (27/31) and I didn't bonk on lap 4 like I thought I might. Long live the queen! Last weekend was the annual Icycle ice race, and the end of my time as the champ. This year, there were 6 women competing, so we started with two initial heats of 3 riders each. I cannot begin to tell you how awful my first race was! I was feeling pretty comfortable in practice and warm up, but racing is such a different pace! Those corners seem so much worse at race speed, and I was all over the brakes. Frankly, pretty embarrassing, especially for the defending champion!

Developing my green thumb. One of the nice things we've discovered this spring is the garden at the house. The previous owners left behind a gorgeous perennial garden, and now I'm trying to learn what to do to keep it looking good. The entire front yard is garden, and the backyard is all patio and garden beds. Bonus - no grass to mow! We planted a few seedlings this weekend, before the weather turned (there's threat of frost tonight! That pie looks AMAZING! The rest of your garden looks very pretty.

One Gear= No Fear. The misadventures of a single speed biker. Friday, July 26, 2013. I forgot to post something on here for a Loooooong time. I'm going to try to be more regular from now on. But we shall see! I tried to watch crosstube.net today and I really didn't get anywhere. Stupid linking and sharing before continuing. I guess I'll be looking for a new CX video fix. Anybody got any leads on good CX videos. If I find one I'll relay it here. 2013 is going to be great! I will race and get out more.

One Gear= No Fear. The misadventures of a single speed biker. Saturday, May 12, 2012. This Blog has been officially revived. I had to get more than 3 rides together to make it official. I'll be training for CYCLOCROSS from now on. They say separation makes the heart grow fonder. And it is definitely true. It feels so good to ride again. The only un-fun part about it is how tender my butt feels every time I get on my bike. Only temporary and its getting easier every ride. More bloggy to follow!

One Gear= No Fear. The misadventures of a single speed biker. Friday, November 27, 2009. Max VO2 intervals today. With the Jay Cam. Another day on the cx rig for me. I went to my mini cx park to do some max VO2 intervals. Trying to ready my body for the rigors of cx racing. Hard accelerating out of corners and tight 180 degree turns. A little climbing involved and the run up practice is always needed. I did a little commentary of my lap and a whole lot of heavy breathing. Here is the video of the ride:.

Went to meet Steve Deboer for a spin class, but no one else showed up. So we just rode the spin bikes for a bit. And Steve gave me the scoop on all the action at the gym and stuff.
