DeguBlog: A new toy
http://degublog.blogspot.com/2004/12/new-toy.html
The day to day adventures of a novice degu owner. Monday, December 06, 2004. My girls' wheel arrived today, an early Christmas present from my brother. Thanks bro! I had tried to save money by buying a plastic rat wheel at the pet shop, but it was no use. They never used it. I was sceptical about the benefits of getting a more expensive one, but in the end decided to "bite the bullet", and asked my brother to ring John Hopewell. Who also supplied our cage. I'm so glad I did. Posted by Richard @ 1:42 PM.

The twin cores of a chinchilla's diet are specially formulated pellets and a good quality grass / hay product. My chinchillas dine on Charnwood Breeding and Active. Generally, I give my chins Oxbow Western Timothy. Hay It is available from a number of sources in the UK, in up to 50lb boxes. I have also experimented with Readigrass. The chin's really like it, and it is significantly cheaper than the Oxbow product, but sadly it is cut very short (well, it is for horses! So I use a Liff. I have a selection ...

We are no longer able to re-home or care for chinchillas. Thanks to everyone for their help and kindness over the years. Or find me on the chinsrus. If you want to take a look at some of the products and toys that help us with the costs of running the sanctuary, then please visit our shop. Many thanks to everyone for all their support. Chinchillas are exotic animals that have specialist needs. We advise you to find a good vet who has an interest in chinchillas and to always err on the side of caution.
