And another shot, I pop rivited the side panels to the old floor/firewall that I cut out earlier and sealed the seams with stainless steel duct tape. Click on picture to enlarge. The torque output of the 2.3 compared to the VW motor is phenomenal!

Passing the VW cable through the short extension piece, I conected the two cables with two mini cable clamps. Click on picture to enlarge. Here you can see where I sealed the frame work to the body with stainless steel duct tape. Then I filled any gaps with spray expanding foam. Click on picture to enlarge.

23 Ford To VW Swap. Electrical and Engine Install. Click on picture to enlarge. Anyone familiar with old VW's knows about the starter solenoid by-pass trick. I use this for two reasons, #1, to take care of the starter engagement, #2, I needed a 2nd 12 volt terminal to by-bass the ballast resistor to give the coil a full 12 volts when starting the motor. Before mounting the motor to the transaxle, You have to beef up the mounts to carry the extra weight of the motor. I used a Empi transaxle strap kit and urethane motor mounts. Click on picture to enlarge. Ok, here's the motor I will be using, It's a 2.3 out of a 79 Pinto that I bought at a abandoned vehicle auction for $10. This shot also shows the exhaust system that I mocked up for this car.
