Lent – Ash Wednesday. February 13, 2013 @ 2:02 pm. 183; { Just stuffs. It can be quite paradoxical, but truly the “emptiness” in the desert with Christ is the very door to the fullness and “abundance” of life. And the deceptive abundance in secular living actually leads to literally nothing (emptiness and poverty in spirit). So here’s the question: Are we contented in living this empty abundance of the world? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Email (Address never made public). You are ...

Archive for April, 2009. Learn 2 things a day! April 28, 2009 @ 3:23 pm. 183; { Offensive. I remember one of my ah beng. Colleagues telling us that Indians are only famous for 2 things. In his words, these 2 things are : (1) Lim jiu, (2) Pa borh. These can be loosely translated to; (1) Drink alcohol, (2) Beat wife…. I didn’t think much of it… until… today. But seriously, it’s not the colour or smell (per se) that makes me a racist, it’s the way people behave, as well as their upbringing. ...8212;—&...

Leisure Multitasked | Saengaks

February 25, 2011 @ 1:27 am. 183; { Just stuffs. Being coined by CNNGo as the second coolest nationality because of our ‘absurdly computer-literate population’, it is not surprising that half of Singapore (2.5mil) is on Facebook and about one fifth (1mil) on Twitter. However, being ‘geeky’ in Singapore’s context is far from spending leisure time sitting at the computer, staring at it through thick lenses all day long. As such, Singaporeans are able to enjoy a nice stroll at Marina Barrage while tweeting ...

Archive for May, 2009. May 23, 2009 @ 10:46 pm. 183; { Love. There once was a man named George Thomas, pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit. Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak…. 8216;What you got there, son? 8216;Just some old birds,’ came the reply. 8216;What are you gonna do with them? 8217; I asked. The pastor was silent for a moment. 8216;Yes, sir, I ju...

Miracle in the Making. March 15, 2010 @ 5:24 pm. 183; { Colours. Today, a series of miracles happened. Or rather, a series of events led me to witness a miracle in the making. an obvious one this time. Where shall i start to build this up. Just last week (Friday morning 9.52am, to be exact), i was exchanging emails with a colleague from another branch. It started from a very simple “hey, how r u today? And i’m glad i did! She told me how she loved her job and that her pay was WOAH! The road that i was mo...

Guilt attack | Saengaks

February 25, 2011 @ 1:40 am. 183; { Offensive. On the previous note of guilt, anyone else absolutely dislike the notion of friends posting ambiguous, negatively connoted messages that you think might be talking about you / directed at you? Personally I get really put off by the pseudo guilt attacks even if the message wasn’t directed at me. It’s the hailing (interpellation) effect I guess, as Louis Althusser puts it, like if someone goes Hey you! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Lent ...

Archive for July, 2009. It’s been a month. July 14, 2009 @ 11:20 am. 183; { Just stuffs. Many times i reeeeally wish they’d invent something that’ll put your memories down straight off your brain, in words or images, or even better, videos, without you having to move a finger. In that way, i won’t have to type/write out extremely lenghty but beautiful memories (which i sometimes.
