Impressions: 2011: The Year in Review
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2012/01/2011-year-in-review.html
Thursday, January 5, 2012. 2011: The Year in Review. 1) What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before? I wrote 398 thank-you notes, went to the NAMM Show. Got a spray tan. Cried like a teeny little girl when I saw Taylor Swift in concert, became obsessed with macarons, had a real date on Valentine’s Day, met Tina Fey, was a bridesmaid—twice! In Florence, started regularly using coupons, discovered my not-so-inner prepster, stayed up all night watching the Royal Wedding. I bought Haribo gummy bears.

Impressions: I Told You So
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2013/09/i-told-you-so.html
Thursday, September 12, 2013. I Told You So. Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Do you ever look back on something you did or said and just cringe? How did you ever think that was a good idea? Why on earth would you ever justify doing that? 8221; “I told you, you are so...

Impressions: My Hate Affair with Sushi
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-hate-affair-with-sushi.html
Friday, July 13, 2012. My Hate Affair with Sushi. I will never pretend that I have a refined palate. I love chocolate-covered gummy bears, still order Happy Meals, and always get the same thing at any given restaurant. I'm a wannabe foodie, though. I love the idea of gourmet food (chipotle aioli on the side, please) that leans toward the exotic (what is "wild" duck, anyway? Do they wear leather jackets? Lie), and I wanted so much to like it. Buuut.I hated it. Everything about it. I love your honesty!

Impressions: January 2008
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2008. I once was lost but now am found. Christian art is as old at Christianity itself. Art can be a powerful tool to communicate the truth of the Bible and of who God is. One of my favorite paintings is the Conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus, painted around 1600 by the Italian Baroque painter, Caravaggio. Caravaggio is such a rock star. He was. Painter in Rome at the time and is one of my all-time favorite artists. Why are you persecuting me? Now get up and go into the city...

Impressions: Read and Lead
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2013/08/read-and-lead.html
Monday, August 26, 2013. In a class during grad school, I was assigned to read parts of the book Spiritual Leadership. By J Oswald Chambers. It’s a compact book about biblical principles of leadership that challenges, inspires, and encourages. Because the content was originally a series of lectures, the book retained the feel of the spoken word, which I really liked. Reading 30 minutes every day is the equivalent of reading a book a week, four books a month, about 50 books a year, and 500 books in 10 yea...

Impressions: November 2007
http://lisabirle.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2007. My personal fashion consultants. I really do credit this show with the evolution of my wardrobe. Although it is still changing for the better, my “look” has come a long way, and it took just a year of deliberate efforts (wearing a jacket instead of an old sweatshirt), some difficult subtractions (not buying band T-shirts at concerts), and important shopping decisions (red wool coat for fall, or houndstooth? 8217;). I ditched the T-shirts that I used to wear in high school,...
