De oorsprong van de huidige Joy4Jazz formatie ligt bij het Delta trio, dat in 2008 ontstond met de bezetting: gitaar, bas en drums met o.m. Rob Poppen en Bauke Wink. Na korte tijd werd dit trio een kwartet met een muzikante op dwarsfluit/ toetsen en kreeg het de (nieuwe) naam Joy4Jazz! Evert Breman verving de toenmalige bassist en nog iets later werd de band uitgebreid tot kwintet met een vibrafonist.
