A Decade of Exploration | Sandeha Lynch
https://sandehalynch.wordpress.com/a-decade-of-exploration
A Decade of Exploration. Not a ‘best of’ post, just a reflection on some of the changes in my photographic work over the last ten years. For the previous twenty years I had used only 35mm SLRs and stayed with Pentax cameras, but by 2001 the digital revolution was well underway and both digital and second-hand film cameras were becoming cheaper and more available. It was time for an exploration of other media and formats. When I started a photography group at the college we went out to view as many exhibi...

Defocusing the Subject | Sandeha Lynch

Interesting work, sure enough, but I wondered how the results from several hundred of dollars worth of software would compare with making a regular pinhole camera for a couple of bucks. With a pinhole as small as maybe 0.3mm the light enters from an extreme angle at the edges and corners of the frame, darkening them, and of course everything is just slightly in focus throughout. On Saturday 11th April 2015, I had the pleasure of talking to members of the. British Art Medal Society. While I was at their annual conference in St Andrews, Fife. It’s a diverse group of people, made up of sculptors, academics, museum specialists, collectors and so on, and about 50 members had come up for the weekend. Time was set aside for individuals to show their latest work or to talk to the group about their own area of interest. What follows is the short talk I gave. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Medals and Relief Sculpture | Sandeha Lynch
https://sandehalynch.wordpress.com/medals-relief-sculpture
Medals and Relief Sculpture. The history of relief art has interested me for a long time, partly on account of its use for experimental and exploratory work. It has a parallel in black and white photography as the medium can be used to emphasise light and form. The following pieces represent a small selection over a thirty year period. A price list for current medals is available on my website:. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Black and White: an honest fiction | Sandeha Lynch
https://sandehalynch.wordpress.com/black-and-white-an-honest-fiction
Black and White: an honest fiction. Photography started out as a monochrome process largely on account of the chemistry available at the time. The first photographic colour prints were only produced towards the end of the 19th century and colour remained an experimental, specialist process for many years. Throughout the first half of the 20th century the majority of photos were printed in black and white but by the 1970s colour had become cheaper to process and print than b&w. We might then notice indivi...
