Jumping Off Place Poetry

I've been writing for many years, and for most of them I've not shared my work, my thoughts, or my life in the public realm. My change of heart has come from the realization that I was given a gift and that not sharing that gift defeats the reason it was given to me. I've been inspired and loved by many people who have encouraged me over the years and it is to them that I owe my gratitude and recent success in professional writing. To all of them I say, thank you.

Jumping Off Place Poetry: Reflected Hope

http://jumpingoffplacepoetry.blogspot.com/2009/03/reflected-hope.html

Jumping Off Place Poetry. Thursday, March 26, 2009. By, Jess Dickson. Searching deranged glass for reflection,. Cracked with brutal truth by the fist of terror. Pondering a moment yet to pass through refraction. Considering the fragments that remain in broken place. Pointing with inside eyes at the scars. Still remaining after passing ages of scattered self. Misplaced by after-thoughts and forget-me-nots. Repression’s grace saves today’s face. Cloaked with the smile that radiates only for you.

Jumping Off Place Poetry: January 2009

http://jumpingoffplacepoetry.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Jumping Off Place Poetry. Saturday, January 31, 2009. By, Jess Dickson. Eyes turned within, peering inside. The walls are crawling, cockroach memory infested. Broken heart bones heaped in cryptic corners. Eyes blood streaked and color-blind. Nails overgrown to fight, claw. Find the bottom of this tomb. Sharpened by death’s unforgiving blade. Eyes turned inside, peeking within. Sludge of soul oozes through pores. Eyes turned out, peering to light. Aching hands reveal faith in nothing known. I have known y...

Jumping Off Place Poetry: Still There Remains

http://jumpingoffplacepoetry.blogspot.com/2012/04/still-there-remains.html

Jumping Off Place Poetry. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. By, Jess Dickson. This body has toiled in factories and fields. Sweat blood and tears. This heart has loved in vain and return. Beat itself into believing. Knotted forever binding ties. This soul has aged beyond its time. Discovered the end before beginning. Revealed colors of hope unyielding. Still there remains…. Searching through this woman’s jaded eyes. A little freckled girl. Yearning for innocence denied. Shed tears and blood.

Jumping Off Place Poetry: December 2008

http://jumpingoffplacepoetry.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Jumping Off Place Poetry. Tuesday, December 23, 2008. By, Jess Dickson. Blood is thicker than water. I’ve heard these things said. But nothing is forever and blood means pain. I bleed upon the hands of my father. Shed tears on the feet of my mother. There is nothing sacred in this place. Someone once told me. And I laughed until I cried. I hide in the corners of my room. Pray for the rising of the sun, terrified of the moon’s companions. There is no peace to be found here. Family is a circle. Her body we...

Jumping Off Place Poetry: November 2008

http://jumpingoffplacepoetry.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Jumping Off Place Poetry. Saturday, November 29, 2008. By, J Lynn Dickson. A writer is seldom without expression. Without a fragment of thought. Sewn together in a line of truth. And still I sit with a needle in my hand. Without string to join emotions and words. With shaking hands I try to lace inspiration. But misty vision prevents the grasp. Stitch by stitch I unravel. Memories pull on the heart, on the strands of me. And rest in a knotted ball at my feet. Shades pale in disillusion. Links to this post.

Jumping Off Books | thoughts, musings and poetry from the fingers of Naomi Madelin

Thoughts, musings and poetry from the fingers of Naomi Madelin. November 14, 2016. I thought about us and the rain and wondered. The Jumping-Off Place | Becky, Dick, Phil and Joan write about homesteading in South Dakota

Becky, Dick, Phil and Joan write about homesteading in South Dakota. June 9, 2009 in Uncategorized. An incredible thing happened today. Phil and Joan went to get water from our spring and when they came back they were bursting with the news that we weren’t allowed to have that water. June 8, 2009 in Phil. Anyway, Becky gave them some yeast cake and made us leave the kitchen. I took the Wubbers down to the creek and we hunted for suckers. The Jumping Off Point | my take on lifelong learning

The Jumping Off Point. My take on lifelong learning. June 30, 2011. I am seriously thinking of removing this blog from the intertubes. I’m not updating, as the 1 of you may have noticed, and I’m not sure that this space is useful. I’m not required to publicly reflect as I finish my EdS and work is such a mess that it’s really not appropriate for me to air that dirty laundry here. The space will probably linger for a little longer as I dither and try to decide what I want to do with the existing content.
