Steve Howson: About this blog
http://www.stevehowson.co.uk/p/blog-page.html
Adventures in children's book publishing. Welcome to my blog. This is the story of how I became a children’s book author. Well, it's the story of how I came to get my first book published. I'm not sure I can call myself a children's author until I have one or two more books under my belt. Anyway, I hope to share my experiences here, from the early stages of trying to get my manuscript noticed by agents and publishers, through to developing the book and finally having it published and released to the world.

Adventures in children's book publishing. Tuesday, 24 September 2013. After more than three years of sending my children’s picture book manuscript to agents and publishers, I finally got the call I thought would never come. It came from Steve Bicknell, Managing Director of Maverick Books. He told me they’d picked out my story for publication and wanted to meet me. The rest of that conversation is a blur in my memory. Fortunately, the email came, and we arranged to meet a few weeks later. 8211; and my adv...

Adventures in children's book publishing. Wednesday, 25 March 2015. Hocus Pocus heads east. Apologies to regular readers of this blog for the long interlude between posts. I thought it was about time I shared some exciting developments in the world of Hocus Pocus Diplodocus. First up is the news that the rights for the book have been sold to Korea. That means there is now a Korean language version of Hocus Pocus Diplodocus. It's a substantial hardback book. Here's the front cover:. Links to this post.

Especially if, like me, you’ve dreamed about having a book published for most of your life. But it’s also a time to be pragmatic. Much as you may wish to sign the thing immediately with a flourish of your quill pen, it’s important to rein in your artistic urges and make sure you have a fair and reasonable publishing deal. I nervously fed these comments ...
