My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Thursday, July 06, 2006. Perhaps I have been hesitating to write the ‘last’ entry for this weblog because I don’t want to accept that this experience is over. Perhaps it is because I am often overtaken by the waves of sadness that often accompany re-entry. Perhaps it is just that I am lazy. Of course, humor is on the horizon when our storage container from. Being that indiamama and I have already...

My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Saturday, June 10, 2006. Well, some 18 months or so ago, we started here. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep it up on a regular basis, and certainly unsure about how our experience would end up being there in. It has been nearly a month since we left. As anyone who has read this weblog regularly knows, it was not an easy time living in Chennai. You were also able to peer into my many. And I...

My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Sunday, November 20, 2005. Yesterday was the community event at Kids Central where all of the children involved in the various programs at the school come together, with their parents, to enjoy each other’s company for a few hours. Usually they hold these events on the school grounds, but this time, for the first time, it was held at Chettinad Palace. And the other the tabla. He seemed to be the ...

My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Tuesday, April 19, 2005. About two weeks into our time here, some friends with a young boy close to the same age of Kaia invited us to join a playgroup, commonly referred to here as a ‘school’. I want to say first off that the people at this school were all very nice. They treated me, not as an oddity in both culture and parenting role, but as a legitimate caretaker, which is not always the case.

Taking advantage of the health insurance that we never can access due to our living out of the country, we took Kaia to a pediatrician while staying with my family in. I wont get into a compare and contrast with an earlier post. But it certainly made for some humorous moments. Reading from a checklist). 8220;Also, we want to tell you a bit ...

My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Kodaikanal: Days Four and Five. Nitin Uncle and Muthatha Aunty. I Want to Stay Here. Sunday, April 30, 2006. We had a small bit of Sunday drama this morning when Kaia locked himself in our bedroom. As I’ve learned is the case in many recently built Indian flats there are a locks and fixtures on just about anything that has a door, often times in multiple forms. It is quite the effort. But back to...

My story of experiments with fatherhood in Southern India. Papa, why aren't yesterday and today the same day? Coming Down the Road: The Bus. Sacrifice and the Career. Sunday, March 13, 2005. Sacrifice and the Career. Before you have children it is quite normal to fear their arrival due to all of the things that you will have to give up: late nights partying with friends, intimate dinners, spontaneous trips, sleep. Everything seems to speed up and concepts of time fundamentally altered. I certainly do not...
