Writing Resources – Adults. Writing Resources – Children. Editing and Workshop Services. Reading List for 2015/2016. Christmas shopping – books for 12-14 year-olds. December 2, 2016. The wonderful thing about books for twelve-fourteen year-olds is they explore many topics that are fitting for adult literature, too. These books cut straight to the chase – none of these books are moralistic or preachy or patronising – they are interesting, well-written stories about fascinating ideas. I nearly wrote a few ...

Taking Stock: September ’16. September 23, 2016. Happy spring or happy fall, depending upon where you are! Have you felt a change in the weather? But whilst the days have still been a little chill and rainy, this is how I’ve been passing the time. Making: a skirt for a futuristic themed 18th my girl was invited to. Honestly, there have been so many costumes this year between 18ths and school dress up days! Reading: The Turner House. Oh well, maybe Rhys! Cooking: pasta for boy before he heads out to work.

The Sketchbook Project update! June 17, 2016. June 17, 2016. A few weeks ago, I wrote about taking part in The Sketchbook Project. So Have I been brave enough to put pen/pencil/paint to paper! Indeedy, I have! Here’s how it’s coming along! The pages aren’t very thick so I avoided watercolour at first but then had the light bulb moment – my dimmer switch was on way too long! 8211; that I could paint on watercolour paper and simply stick it into the sketchbook! Do you have a favourite pic? June 2, 2016.

What I did in 2016. December 26, 2016. Well, here we are! The year is drawing to a close. Thank goodness! There has been a lot of sad news, hasn’t there? I couldn’t believe it when my man and I walked in the door this morning after our morning walk and the girl told us that George Michael had died. I went to see them in concert with two of my school friends when they came to Melbourne. So ace! We sang, we danced, we screamed! Renewed my fondness for a G&T. Watched my girl in her last school musical.

This was Monday night. December 14, 2016. December 15, 2016. 8217; – as he flung his arms around her! What is this strange new world? Where is the routine? It’s like we’re living in a share house – with less disputes about food and bills! And so to all of you labouring under the weight of end of year school concerts, sports break ups, kriskringles, money collections for teacher presents, I remember the precision planning required to coordinate it all. I remember the ‘Really? What I did in 2016. I have it...

Getting back on the horse – and a ‘taking stock’ of sorts. March 2, 2017. I tell you, it feels like it has been a while since I have had the chance to sit down and immerse myself in a blog post. Not to say that this is going to have any earth-shattering insights. Rather it is me climbing gently back on the horse – or the bike – whatever takes your fancy! The kiddies – can I still call them that now that they are both adults? Want to see a movie? Both felt a bit ‘meh’). Coffee? There’s an excellent ...

Farewell stras sandwiches and Friday treats. October 14, 2016. December 14, 2016. Forty weeks of school per year, 13 years per child. If my maths is correct, I think that means I’ve made over 1000 stras sandwiches and popped over 1000 chocolate bars into lunchboxes. This morning, I made my last Friday lunch box. It’s the last full week of school for my girl. The last full week of being a school mum for me. But that’s part of life, isn’t it? Sometimes you just have to suck it up! Oh, Carolyn, I was almost...
