Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Just the words make me happy! This usually means sleeping in, sipping coffee, and eating any number of delectable foods. Among the delicious are these Banana, Raisin, and Oatmeal Pancakes. To save leftovers for another day, carefully wrap them and hide them in a corner of the refrigerator where your family will not find them (well, that's what I have to do anyway since they tend to disappear later in the day)! We mana...

Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Ahsoanybody still have Thanksgiving leftovers almost a week later? I bought a much larger turkey than my small gathering needed with the anticipation of leftovers. As it turns out Saturday night after Thanksgiving some cousins and their families came over and helped us eat Turkey Chili. With Pumpkin Walnut Focaccia. We still have quite a bit of leftover stuffing. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Note that this is not an official holiday. Today is really Sewing Machine Day and Vinyl Records Day. Neither of which I have much experience with. The possibilities are endless for cold summer meals, but here are some ideas. 1/2 bunch Red leaf lettuce. 1/2 a roasted red pepper. 4 small steamed beets. Toss with balsamic vinaigrette. 8 ounces cream cheese. 8 ounces sour cream. 8 ounces smoked salmon. Dash salt and pepper.

Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Tonight's dinner was a time-honored American tradition: The Burger. A slight amount of guilt is niggling at my fingers as I write this post after yesterday's conversation with a friend about shopping only from the perimeter of the grocery store (a.k.a. healthy, fresh, non-packaged foods) and while trying to lean more toward the plant side of omnivorous eating habits. But I digress. Links to this post. We were not disa...

Sound Musings: Those Weekends in Summer
http://doubletallvanillalattegirl.blogspot.com/2013/08/those-weekends-in-summer.html
Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Those Weekends in Summer. About this time each summer it dawns suddenly: There will soon be many lasts until next year: that last dinner on the porch, the last tomato from the backyard, the last evening spent sitting in the adirondack chair outside, the last glass of rosé, the last fresh corn on the cob, the last hot day, and so it goes. For now, though, we enjoy each moment. Lol love this post and soo cute aw haha!

Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Winter returned this week, but otherwise we've been enjoying spring here. Last Saturday exhibited brilliant blue skies, zero clouds, and warm temperatures, and the need to be outside was great. So explore we did. We went places we've been before.and discovered places we haven't. Like.Fish tacos at Steamer's. On the Seattle waterfront (eaten outdoors on the deck of course).great fries! Cherry trees in bloom. 3191 A Yea...

Tidbits of life around Puget Sound.the food.the people.the places.emphasis on the food. Summer in a Glass. With all due respect to my favorite beverage (coffee for those of you who didn't already guess) nothing beats a tall cold glass of iced tea on a warm summer afternoon. Having invited a few friends and some family over to celebrate July 4th in our backyard, iced tea seemed like the perfect beverage to accompany barbecued chicken and steak alongside various salads. Had some ideas that sounded fun.

Hiking Snoqualmie: Mount Teneriffe
http://hikingsnoqualmie.blogspot.com/2009/07/mount-teneriffe.html
Hiking reports in the Mountains-to-Sound Greenway. Jul 10, 2009. Mount Teneriffe is the tall peak to the northeast of Mount Si, or the "next one" along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River (there are a couple taller peaks just north of Mount Si; I'm not sure what they are). It stands 4800 feet tall, although its generally obstructed by Mount Si if you're west of it and Mailbox Peak if you're east of it. The trailhead is located a mile past the Mount Si trailhead. Take I-90 to exit 32, head north, ...
