Through the Eyes of a Mzungu

Through the Eyes of a Mzungu. It is nearing the end of my time here in Uganda as I have only 2 short weeks left before our group heads to Rwanda for our two week trip and debrief. So much has happened in the last month, but it has gone by so quickly I haven’t even had time to stop and process what has happened. At the beginning of the month, our group took a weekend trip to Lira. We journeyed down on Friday and were treated to some American(ish) food. First, we met a missionary couple named Bob and Carol.

Through the Eyes of a Mzungu: February 2012

http://kateshetler.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Through the Eyes of a Mzungu. I can’t even wrap my mind around all that has happened in the past week and a half. When we first left for our rural homestays two Fridays ago (Feb. 17) I was excited to experience true African rural life. When I got settled in though, I was once again shocked and humbled to find that rural Africa was nothing like I expected. Even Soroti was becoming an industrialized region with all the modern conveniences any other city or town here in Africa has. I can’t imagine liv...

Through the Eyes of a Mzungu: January 2012

http://kateshetler.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Through the Eyes of a Mzungu. Through all the Trials and Joys of Life. The past couple days have been some of the best days of my entire life. I feel like I'm completely part of the family now, and I can't express in words how loved and accepted my family makes me feel. On Tuesday, Nalango, Anette, and Marion (3 of Mama's catering staff, Nalango being also a friend of mine) showed me how to peel a plantain! Me and my new friend Matilda :). Praying for the graduates. So cool. Demali and Me :). Then, we AT...
