The Butlers: Jerry Hughes
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2009/08/jerry-hughes.html
We are at two with Nature. Friday, August 14, 2009. Death is very difficult…any way you slice it. While I continue to feel extremely lucky to have gotten to know my grandfather so well, especially in the most recent 15 years of my “adult” life (and I use this term very loosely), I still cannot help but miss him. Is this selfish and making it all about me? I miss his thirst for knowledge. I miss his humility. I miss the way he could be gentle and yet firm at the same time. I miss his desire for fairness.

The Butlers: February 2008
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
We are at two with Nature. Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Coaching 6th and 7th grade girls basketball is proving to be both challenging and rewarding. In all honesty, most of the time I feel more like a wrangler than a coach. Does anyone remember that great Superbowl commercial from a few years ago that followed a bunch of cowboys moving a herd of kittens cross country? No idea.but I need to get over it.). Some of my favorite moments from the season thus far:. 3) During a voluntary post-practice group pra...

The Butlers: March 2008
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
We are at two with Nature. Friday, March 14, 2008. For better or for.can it get much worse? Lessons learned in the past week:. 1) That guy on those UPS commercials can draw real good. 2) Pasteurized milk causes acne.but Rice Drink is dang tasty. 3) The recommendation "try new things" does not apply to me. Once I was over my tantrum, Cameron and I had a great day. I will admit that it felt odd skiing someplace that 1) I could feel my lungs and 2) had no snow anywhere but on the slopes, but I was able ...

The Butlers: April 2009
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
We are at two with Nature. Sunday, April 26, 2009. Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. If you do in fact buy into the expression "a picture is worth a thousand words" then the following, family and friends, is my 61,000 word essay on the past couple months. 1) Cameron had to go to CA for business so Colby came up the mountain to keep me company.and he brought a couple feet of snow with him. Me, "Oh, let's do a movie marathon! 2) Cameron and I have been married 2. And then shoot the eggs...

Trent and Katie's: Czesky Krumlov
http://trentandkatie.blogspot.com/2010/11/czesky-krumlov.html
Monday, November 22, 2010. We spent less than 48 hours in the town of Czesky Krumlov but that was enough time to fall in love with this quaint, cobble-stone clad community dotted with red-roofed houses and churches with pointy steeples, famous for its awe-inspiring castle with an awe-inspiring view. During our morning exploration, we found our favorite jelly donuts, blue skies, remarkable churches and a river winding through this colorful town. Sorry, sir." I ducked my head in shame and scurried to m...

Trent and Katie's: May 2011
http://trentandkatie.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 1, 2011. The train ride to Rome foreshadowed much of what we would experience in the ancient city. We passed remarkable scenes (the coastline and fields of wild sunflowers) and encountered remarkable heat (not as beautiful). We arrived in the afternoon so we dropped off our backpacks and went exploring. No map. No agenda. Just started to walk around. We laughed when we turned the corner from our hostel and ended up here:. We had a very analytical discussion at these ancient ruins:. No clue wh...

Trent and Katie's: Dublin & Glendalough Mountains
http://trentandkatie.blogspot.com/2011/09/dublin-glendalough-mountains.html
Friday, September 2, 2011. Dublin and Glendalough Mountains. Our last leg of the journey was spent in Ireland. We were pretty wiped out by this point and Trent's beard was pretty ridiculous:. Food was continually getting caught in it and yes, he often did comb it with a fork. It was rainy and cold so we ate lots of lamb stews and shepherd's pie:. Here we found a monastery built in the 5th century. The FIFTH century! It was simply incredible. We also stumbled upon the coolest looking cemetery ever:. Thus,...

Trent and Katie's: January 2011
http://trentandkatie.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 17, 2011. Our journey to Interlaken, Switzerland was laborious to say the least. It involved four different trains through the night and an overnight stay in a German train station. I stayed awake the entire time worried about getting robbed and engrossed in a book while Trent, my brother the protector, did this:. Our stay in this majestic mountain town was strikingly similar to the landscape as it was peppered with insanely incredible high moments (not a drug reference). I took my infamo...

The Butlers: December 2008
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
We are at two with Nature. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Cue that hard to understand New Year's song.you know the one. That time of year.the time for over-analyzing and intense introspection. Since I like neither one, I turn to Dave Barry because he can say it so much better than I can. Dave Barry's Year in Review: Bailing out of 2008. How weird a year was it? 8226; O.J. actually got convicted of something. 8226; Gasoline hit $4 a gallon - and those were the good times. Of course not all the events of 2008...

The Butlers: November 2007
http://butlered.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
We are at two with Nature. Friday, November 30, 2007. As promised, the following is an update on our building project. In an attempt to catch everyone up, we will start from the beginning. Our first time seeing the property in January 2007:. Soon after the purchase in April:. Keep in mind that the plan is to have a wrap around porch and a secondary roof. The finished project should look something like this:. Special thanks to this crew (plus Ninny).standing by our front door. for their dedication:. 3 We ...
