Tales from the Valley. Thursday, September 28, 2006. Maybe reading workshop isn't a complete bust. A part of a letter from a student today in her reading response - (written verbatim). This books from the Baby-sitters are great thank you for telling me about them! I wasn't used to read lots of chapter books but now its like if your encoranging me to read them. When I told my mom about them and read to her a chapter she liked them and she read a little more she was glad I was reading this book.

Tales from the Valley: June 2005
http://mandarin-of-the-valley.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Tales from the Valley. Friday, June 24, 2005. So I've finished my first week of teaching at institute. Today definitely left a lot to be desired, but overall it was pretty good. I know I have a lot to work on - especially in the realm of actually conveying information. And where do I go from here? Posted by Mandarin @ 5:33 PM 0 comments. Wednesday, June 22, 2005. First day of teaching = pretty good. I forgot a lot of stuff that I wanted to tell them, but overall, it was ok. Transitioning between ...Third...

Tales from the Valley: May 2006
http://mandarin-of-the-valley.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Tales from the Valley. Sunday, May 14, 2006. End of the Year. The end of my first year of teaching approaches. Have I made a difference? Have I impacted the lives of my students in a meaningful way? In a way that will make their lives better and brighter? I have no idea. I'm sure that I've impacted their lives in some way, but I will never know what it is. Could I have done more? I am excited, proud, and sad. Do my students know that I love them? What will they remember about me? Could I have done more?

Tales from the Valley. Friday, March 10, 2006. So far, I LOVE IT! When you used to give us prompts to write about, I would have a little bit of ideas, but now that we're writing about stuff that we pick, I have so many ideas that they won't fit on the page! Tales from the Valley. Friday, October 28, 2005. During every break that we take during the conference there are fresh snacks including chocolate tarts and cakes, 10 types of tea and 4 types of coffee. During meals there are numerous types of food involving multiple courses. What I'm saying is that I'm actually not leaving. My permanent residence from now on is the Mandarin Oriental Hotel; the only 5 star hotel in Washington DC. Please forward my mail and let my family know. Tuesday, October 25, 2005.

Tales from the Valley: September 2005

Tales from the Valley. Friday, September 30, 2005. One down, Six to go. Gosh I can't believe the 1st 6 weeks is over. I have so many ridiculous stories to share and I just don't have the time to put them all down. Two days before grades were due we were informed that we had to have 5 separate grades for English and Writing. We had planned, as had been done in the past, to put them together in one grade. Instead of having 10 grades, we had only 5! My kids adore it. They leave me the funniest notes....

Tales from the Valley: November 2005
http://mandarin-of-the-valley.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Tales from the Valley. Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Violation of the Chain of Command. I understand why there is a chain of command. It's obnoxious as a teacher to be asked for a pencil or a piece of paper when a classmate is clearly the one to ask. That's why the "ask 3 before you ask me" rule exists. If I answer every question that is asked of me, I would be answering questions all day long and never teach anything. What was she thinking? Now I'm humiliated, hurt, and thuroughly ticked off. I came acros...

Tales from the Valley. Tuesday, October 03, 2006. I was just rereading some recent posts and I have to admit that I'm a total sap this year! This job isn't easy, I'm still cynical, I still rant.but not as much here. Perhaps its that I'm too cynical and I'm trying to redeem myself through my blog. hmm I don't know. AS Media Studies - Katie Jordan
AS Media Studies - Katie Jordan. Tuesday, 24 March 2009. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? How does your media product represent particular social groups? Who would be the audience for your media product? How did you attract/address your audience?
