Every Day's an Adventure: September 2012
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Tuesday, September 18, 2012. The last issue of Canadian Scrapbooker had a call for sympathy cards, and since there was a dog death in my family, I was inspired to make pet sympathy cards. The first version of the card is featured on Jackie's blog. Magenta chipboard rainbow and Studio Calico chipboard clouds. Kaisercraft wooden rainbow and MemoryBox dies for grass and wee flowers. And here's the famous Rainbow Bridge poem:. Author unknown, inspired by a Norse legend. All ears pri...

Every Day's an Adventure: April 2012
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Friday, April 6, 2012. A little spring storm. Of course, last weekend it was warm and sunny, and my darling husband did all kinds of spring like chores out in the yard - take the bikes out of the shed, put up the trampoline, hang up the laundry on the clothesline, and change my snow tires. Ha! These are the female red-winged blackbirds hanging on a bird feed cone. They are kinda ugly compared to their handsome male counterparts. Fortunately, I had lots of snow shovelling help.

Every Day's an Adventure: White Bean and Kale Soup
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2013/02/white-bean-and-kale-soup.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Saturday, February 2, 2013. White Bean and Kale Soup. I made this soup the other day, slightly modified from a great cookbook I had out of the library called Spilling the Beans. First time I had eaten kale, I think. It was terrific and felt so darn healthy! A drizzle of olive oil. 1 finely chopped onion. 3 garlic cloves, crushed. 19 oz can crushed tomatoes. About 4 cups chicken broth (I use the ready to use stuff in the UHT cartons). 1 19 oz can white beans, drained and rinsed.

Every Day's an Adventure: January 2013
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Inspired by Stained Glass. Canadian Scrapbooker had a page call for projects inspired by Stained Glass last spring and this is one of the projects I created. I typically use an obsolete photo editing software called Microsoft Digital Image Suite to tweak any of my pictures, and it had a stained glass filter in the Effects menu. Kind of a fun look! Friday, January 25, 2013. Canadian Scrapbooker Basics Volume 6. I was in northern Manitoba last summer f...

Every Day's an Adventure: February 2012
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Tuesday, February 14, 2012. So, here's the sketch for the Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker magazine for the month of February designed by the very talented Jill Sarginson. It's great fun to play along and an incentive to get something scrapped! And if you submit your work you could get published in an upcoming magazine. Details here. If it's new to you. Although inspired by the sketch, my layout looks kind of different, but hey! Thursday, February 2, 2012. Starting teac...

Every Day's an Adventure: June 2012
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Thursday, June 28, 2012. Selected five samples and was stunned to have them delivered by UPS to my house two days later. Impressive customer service! I also ordered a good handful of 8x10 samples from WilsonArt. But have not yet received them. But it is so much easier to make a decision about what your countertop should look like with a large sample than one of those itty bitty 2x3" chips you find at most retailers. Tuesday, June 26, 2012. You can see the sketch, join in the cha...

Every Day's an Adventure: July 2012
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Monday, July 2, 2012. It was pouring rain around parade time here yesterday, and the boys are getting older and less interested, so we skipped the local Canada Day festivities. Instead, we waited for the rain to stop and headed out to Elk Island National Park. National Parks have free admission on Canada Day. Who knew? Somebody was parasailing (is that the right word for this activity) on Astotin Lake. It looked very cool and with the wind, boy, could he move!

Every Day's an Adventure: October Sketchy Challenge
http://connienichol.blogspot.com/2012/10/october-sketchy-challenge.html
Every Day's an Adventure. Monday, October 15, 2012. Although I have never been a big sketch user, I have found that I just tremendously enjoy doing the monthly Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker. The sketches are lovely and easy for my brain to follow, and so much faster than dreaming up the entire page design from scratch! If you haven't, go check it out and try it. Post your version in the gallery so we can all see! Karen Foster Honoring the Past Scrapbook kit. October 16, 2012 at 8:13 AM. Aweso...
