Kenyons: July 2015
http://kenyonfam.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Family news and random musings from the Kenyons. Sunday, July 12, 2015. Superheroes in the house. Am I supposed to feel safer? Saturday, July 11, 2015. Well, it appears Edward's tween transition is good for at least one thing- a return to blogging. This story/photo is definitely one we'll want to remember. We could eat, the boys could ride their scooters and John and I could stroll around the lake on a pleasant July evening. Edward's reaction to the idea: "NO! I don't want to stay home alone! I think he ...

Family news and random musings from the Kenyons. Thursday, May 22, 2014. The doctor told him to stay off the monkey bars for a week so his arm can regain strength, but cleared him for his debut in a T-ball baseball game. He was very excited about finally joining his team on the field, and did well despite the long layoff. The Cardinals were happy to activate him after 21-days on the DL. Posted by John Kenyon. Monday, May 12, 2014. Daniel lost his first tooth! I think she'll be persuaded. As many times as...

Family news and random musings from the Kenyons. Tuesday, August 19, 2014. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the year.the First Day of School! Daniel was so excited/nervous he had. A hard time falling asleep last night. Edward's all "Been there.done that.". They only deigned to take a "nice" picture together if it was followed by a series of "goofy" pictures. By all accounts it was a good day. Daniel told me, "First grade is AWESOME! All in all, a successful first day! Monday, August 18, 2014. Pizza and wa...

Family news and random musings from the Kenyons. Thursday, July 09, 2015. Daniel: When I'm a teenager I'm gonna be "swag.". John: What the heck does that mean? Daniel: It's when you wear your pants low so your underwear shows. Teenagers do that. John: Since when is that called "swag? Edward: Get updated, Man! Oh…these next few years will be interesting. My parents also made it to two games the week John and I were in Japan. And the late May weather was masquerading as March so bonus points for them!

Notes from the Northwest. Saturday, August 2, 2014. We took the kids to the Thurston County Fair today. We walked to the shuttle, which turned out to be a school bus. Brenna was delighted with a chance to ride on it. Other favorites were LEGO displays, horses and a baby llama. I was surprised at how much Brenna enjoyed watching the horse and rider judging and that she wanted to pet the horses (twice). That being said, we purchased a new car last week. This decision was made following long hours looki...

Notes from the Northwest. Monday, November 3, 2014. We walked up to the local park to participate in the run. The kids had a good time and we enjoyed the lovely fall walk on the way there and back. Of course, we had to stop and play in the leaves :. We spend the rest of the afternoon playing together. Todd did some science experiments with the kids using the last of the dry ice from Halloween. Then we played a couple of board games. I love Sunday family time! Was time for bed. Brenna chose to sleep w...
Notes from the Northwest: Memorial Day Weekend Adventures
http://theganeys.blogspot.com/2015/06/memorial-day-weekend-adventures.html
Notes from the Northwest. Friday, June 5, 2015. Memorial Day Weekend Adventures. Our camping plans for Memorial Day weekend were foiled by the stomach flu. Fortunately, everyone recovered in time to get outdoors before returning to work and school. Well, more or less, Aidan did get an extra day off for hiking as we had planned to return from camping on Tuesday. Heading uphill at the end of our hikes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The JM and H Show. Sometime in the middle of November, the weather to...
Notes from the Northwest: Todd's birthday hike
http://theganeys.blogspot.com/2015/06/todds-birthday-hike.html
Notes from the Northwest. Wednesday, June 10, 2015. We celebrated Todd's birthday with a family hike to Narada Falls in Mt. Rainier National Park. We were fortunate to be joined by Janet and Denis. The kids loved hiking with their grandparents. I loved the chance for a quiet walk in the woods. Daideo and Aidan were trailblazers while Todd, Brenna and Yaya brought up the rear. This left plenty of room for me in the middle. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The JM and H Show. Let's back up and review yes...

Notes from the Northwest. Thursday, September 18, 2014. After babies, bubbles and books we had dome playground time before heading home. This morning she woke up to pumpkin waffles with blueberry sauce and her birthday gift before Dad and Aidan left for the day. Aidan was thrilled to give Brenna the stroller that he had helpled put together earlier in the week and hid in his closet. She called Grandma and Grandpa to tell them all about her new toy. Then home for lunch and a Madeline DVD. The JM and H Show.

Notes from the Northwest. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. This summer Olympia was challenged to a Summer of Love by parenting coach, Emily McMason at Evolving Parents. One of the earliest tasks of this project was to create a hub to keep track of special summer moments and activities. This is the list we ended up with:. Summer of Love 2014. Morning cuddles and reading. Fishing and feeing animals at Old McDebbie’s Farm. Playing with Aunt Annie. Music in the Park. Fireworks (Dad and Aidan). Mornings at the park.

Relaxing on the porch with bear and audiobook. Lunch with my sun-loving girl. March - Part 2. More March fun. Brenna and I had a date day. We went to the library, had a picnic lunch then saw "Cinderella" in the theater. She was SO excited to see the movie. Aidan's birthday, Part 2. March was beautiful and we enjoyed some outside time.

Notes from the Northwest. Thursday, December 18, 2014. We had a welcome guest for the first weekend in December. Not only does Amy play games and read to kiddos, she is a champion Christmas decorator. She even inspired Todd to get into the spirit. We had fun getting the house ready for Christmas, baking ornaments and watching White Christmas. Together. I think we need to make this an annual event. Roasting chestnuts to try. With Grandma after dropping Amy off. Thank you once again to Amy Nielson. We all ...

Notes from the Northwest. Tuesday, August 12, 2014. We got the new car dirty this weekend with a camping trip to Lewis and Clark State Park and a brief exploration of Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Saturday was spent in the Ape Caves and the south side of the monument. Next was our intended destination of Lava Canyon. The Canyon has been shaped and re-shaped by lava and mudflows. Some of the most interesting features were the columns formed by cooling lava. Brenna opted to leave the picture.

Family news and random musings from the Kenyons. Wednesday, June 01, 2016. Boys hopped out, I released the seat backs, reached in and grabbed the keys, which were, as feared, set on top of the suitcase! We left John to catch his flight back to Cedar Rapids (because of the timing of his meetings, he traveled separately, a few days before we did and flew from Iowa rather than driving to Chicago) and headed for baggage claim where my parents were waiting with open arms to welcome us home. A spectacular sigh...

He loves to count, play on his computer and he's definitely a water baby (even if he's not much of a baby anymore! We went to the beach for 4th of July! And then last weekend we bought him a pool. He is REALLY enjoying it and is getting more and more comfortable in it all the time. He sure did have a great day! And sinc...
