kettleboiler: December 2014

http://kettleboiler.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, 14 December 2014. He was friends with S for years and when they reconnected, they did so through letters. This resonated with me as my mum and dad met when they became penpals and much of their early courting was through letters. 10 years ago, D and S got married and we were fortunate enough to be in attendance. D made THE. Best speech I have ever witnessed, and left most women in tears and most men cursing him for the grief they would be getting later on! The not quite finished quilt top. It's n...

kettleboiler: Flowered Up

http://kettleboiler.blogspot.com/2015/03/flowered-up.html

Tuesday, 3 March 2015. Remember when a weekender meant something other than a bag. distant memories indeed. A little like the workshop run by Mandy at one of our first EMMQG meetings two years ago next month. The plan was for us all to make an Amy Butler Weekender bag, guided by Mandy who had already bitten the bullet and made a lovely one. I could only stay until lunchtime because Forest were playing at home that afternoon! I put a zipped pocket on one side. Trust me, that pocket has a zip! I used leath...

kettleboiler: May 2014

http://kettleboiler.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 8 May 2014. Biting off more than you can chew. The following megablock took be chuffing days to do. This is about 25" wide. My idea is a gift for some dear friends of mine and I'm trying to incorporate some lyrics from one of "their" songs, you know. I originally printed out a huge wodge of PP letter templates from EQ7 but the letters were not reversed (fortunately I worked this out after half a letter! S typography block templates and cracked on.slowly! Have a good weekend x. Links to this post.

kettleboiler: September 2014

http://kettleboiler.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, 29 September 2014. The "about flipping time" giveaway. So, it's definitely time for an "about flipping time" giveaway. Here's what's up for grabs. I've had much fun making divided baskets for my friends to use as nappy holders and generally enjoy Anna's patterns. So I am offering to make the winner a noodle-head pattern of her choice. Here are the options from the noodle-head shop. I'll also include the social tote with the options about. Courtesy of carolyn friedlander's website. I hope it works!

Di @ Willowbeck Designs: March 2013

http://willowbeckdesigns.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 26 March 2013. Illness has been lingering on here. My sneezing viral infection has lead into a sore throat, enlarged glands and loss of voice viral infection! It feels as if I haven't felt 'normal' for over a week now. My sons have stepped up to the mark on the home front, but then I cannot shout at them, let alone speak in more than a whisper. In April and I felt that I should be posting what I want my bees to be making, as April is less than a week away. We have already made feathers for Lucy.

Quilting In The Cold: January 2013

http://quiltinginthecold.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Quilting In The Cold. Thursday, January 17, 2013. I finished the sparkly baby quilt top this morning. I love how the mix of three star blocks and one star blocks work together. I think I will just do a bit of echo quilting around each star. I am tempted to use orange thread but I think I might need to test it first. We have oldest daughters' fifth birthday party this weekend. Ten little people running around the place. It will be carnage! Hope you are all keeping warm. Quilting In The Cold. I thought you...

Blissed out : Crochet Hat

http://jo2308.typepad.com/blissedoutknitting/2010/08/crochet.html

A blog about living the creative life and all things blissful. August 29, 2010. I decided it was about time I learned to crochet - properly as opposed to doing the twiddly bits on things Ive knitted (picot edges and stuff). So I bought this cute little book:. Aug 29, 2010 11:41:18 AM. What a cute hat! The first thing I crocheted was definetly not wearable! August 29, 2010 at 08:11 PM. Nice hat, it looks good. September 01, 2010 at 06:06 PM. Thats such a cute hat! September 10, 2010 at 06:16 PM. Thanks fo...

Quilting In The Cold: December 2013

http://quiltinginthecold.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Quilting In The Cold. Friday, December 13, 2013. Well long time no see. Things have been busy here as we all settle into this new country and new routines. It has been tough at times but we do seem to be getting there now and I have managed to do some sewing. I finished my scrappy star quilt last week and am really pleased with how it has turned out. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone for the quilting and did some bubbles. Lets just say they are organic! They do give a lovely texture though.

Quilting In The Cold: February 2013

http://quiltinginthecold.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Quilting In The Cold. Thursday, February 21, 2013. I finished the sparkly baby quilt this week. I kept the quilting to a minimum with just a bit of echo quilting round each of the stars. I did break out the orange thread and hand stitch around all the little stars. The stitches are by no means perfect but I think they are pretty. Quilting In The Cold. Sunday, February 3, 2013. I snipped my last end this morning and am in love. It is so warm and snuggly! Hope you are all keeping warm. Quilting In The Cold.

Quilting In The Cold: June 2013

http://quiltinginthecold.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Quilting In The Cold. Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Now this probably isn't the time to start any new projects since we move in 3 weeks. But start one I have. These stars are going to be for a quilt for my sister. I am using up some low volume charm squares and some other low volume fabrics I have been hoarding in my stash. I love how they all look together. I might even finish this before we leave! Quilting In The Cold. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Quilting In The Cold. View my complete profile.

Di @ Willowbeck Designs: April 2013

http://willowbeckdesigns.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 30 April 2013. Look what popped through my letter box this morning. Sue, of the Kinky Bee, sent me some lovely red scraps of fabric. I had mentioned that I had a dearth of red fabric when we met up last Saturday. Thank you Sue for your kindness and thoughtfulness in sending these large 'scraps' to me. I will use them. Sunday, 28 April 2013. A day out with friends. Yesterday I went up to London to meet up with Liz. Liz had invited me but failed to mention it was their Kinky Bee. The high of my re...

Monday, February 15th, 2016. I set off this year to live a simpler life. Nothing earth-shaking, but little changes for the better. Less materialism, using up what I have, seeing friends more and taking time to do the things I love. I really want to use up what I have – fabric, yarn, food, clothes – rather than buying yet more stuff that just accumulates and doesn’t get used up. And you know what? Sunday, January 17th, 2016. I have done something (a little bit) radical. After 35 years as a blonde of v...

Saturday, 3 September 2016. Monarch of the Glen. It has been a long while since I posted anything but I feel that the story of the Monarch of the Glen needs to be told. Just before Christmas last year, we received news that Laughing Boy's best friend had been diagnosed with myeloma and kidney failure. My first thought was "I need to make him a quilt! I really wanted to do a Dan Rouse deer. Navy 6" blocks and orange 3"blocks. A bit lost in the gloaming. And sewed round the outline. And, following Dan's in...
