Lying desperate for dismemberment. Or a frozen elder. Faced with intractable logs. Maybe it is just youth. The illusion of freedom. On the surface of being. Soaring before the wax melts;. Unrequited lust for danger. A moment of grace granted. Held by faith alone. Lest the blade falls. View all posts by Helen →.

Constant gardeners | West Coast Adventures
https://livesofvancouver.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/constant-gardeners
An English girl in Vancouver. March 24, 2011. Bringing some scant warmth. Finally to the exotic flowers and. The byways of suburbia. Each frontage gardened and honed. Owners flit from door to SUV. Harmonised, with ease. In my yard raccoons. Have dug ugly clumps mangling the grass. A scrap of litter is lodged beneath a bare rose thorn. And spring daffs are adorned with an angry stick. Planted by a raging child. I know I let my own weeds grow. Their constant gardening steals my silence, anyway.

Opinions and creations of speculative fiction writer M. Huw Evans. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Prompt: "After lunch I was a little bored and I wandered around the apartment". After lunch I was a little bored and I wandered around the apartment with a cloth, dusting surfaces. My dust cloth caught the corner of a framed photograph of my parents that sat atop the spinet The picture fell behind the instrument and a sharp crack told me that its glass had broken. I strained for a wider angle of view. If I coul...

An English girl in Vancouver. Sunday, Alma Street. A taste of NaNoWriMo →. July 25, 2010. The marijuana was not her biggest headache, we both agreed. Nor was the Asian gangster buying up grow houses and illegally stealing electricity under an assumed name (all paid for, in due course, via a mysterious transfer from a bank in Richmond).
