Kim Runs Miles with Smiles: My Brooks #ThankYouRunning Moment

http://www.kimruns.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-brooks-thankyourunning-moment.html

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. My Brooks #ThankYouRunning Moment. On Sunday I went to the Potomac River Running Birthday Bash 5k. Party to celebrate Potomac River Running's 12th birthday. It is a fun party and many of the vendors have festive booths and giveaways. Brooks was sponsoring a contest with a head-to-toe Brooks outfit as the prize. Yes, please! I would like to win that! Was it too raw, too unscripted, too silly? Whatever it may be, it was genuine, so I shared it. July 22, 2...

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles: Fitbit vs. Vivofit - Tracking the Trackers

http://www.kimruns.blogspot.com/2015/02/fitbit-vs-vivofit-tracking-trackers.html

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles. Sunday, February 22, 2015. Fitbit vs. Vivofit - Tracking the Trackers. I have been a loyal, and slightly addicted, Fitbit. User for over 3 years. Fitbit was the first activity tracker I heard about and, until a few weeks ago, the only one I had ever tried. I was lucky enough to win a Garmin Vivofit. Garmin Vivofit (left) and Fitbit One (right). Location, Location, Location. My preference: clip-on, not the wrist. It depends on whether you can see it, and what your daily dress c...

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles. Saturday, August 1, 2015. MCM Training Week 7. With the end of week 7 of Marine Corps Marathon training, my fellow trainees and I are just past one-third of the way there:. A whole column of clickable recap links! So far I'm staying pretty motivated. That may be more challenging as I move into the "build" portion of my training plan with the higher volumes and intensities. I try to surround myself with motivation:. My MCM vision board helps me stay focused on my goal. For the ...

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles: What's My Pace?

http://www.kimruns.blogspot.com/2015/07/whats-my-pace.html

Kim Runs Miles with Smiles. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. My marathon training plan includes several different paces. When I've trained for mid-distance races in the past, I've had a general idea of what these paces should feel like, but I wasn't very precise about the numbers. Now that I'm training for a marathon, it's time to be more focused and deliberate. Most of my training runs are either " Easy/Long. I can hold a conversation in complete sentences at this pace. This feels "comfortably hard". I never kn...

I raced the 2014 Leesburg 20K/5K this morning. Even with the hills, heat, and humidity, I ran a great 20K. But that’s not what I am writing about in this post. In this post, I am reflecting on the 2013 Leesburg 20K/5K, the first race I ran after having baby #2. It was a difficult time but I healed. At 7 week...

Fit To Be TRI'd: Uking Around!

http://trichick64.blogspot.com/2015/07/uking-around.html

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Recently I took up playing the ukulele. Back over the Rock Hall weekend. Margie the Beast introduced STUR. And I to the ukulele. She brought it for the weekend, and on the return from Sunday's event, she entertained us in the car. It was so cool! Then, over the Independence Day weekend, I got some hands on time when Mike and the Beast, STUR, BRab, CBun. And I all visited Stephanie and uked around. CBun made it out to a local uke festival. And it was so interesting! 04/30 - Draft D...

Fit To Be TRI'd: Tri History

http://trichick64.blogspot.com/p/tri-history.html

Wow - 2013 was only a one-tri-year! But unofficially there was the RabbitMan 70.3(ish) race. There was a bit of an improvement in 2014, as I did three triathlons. In my history of doing triathlon, 2009 was the year with the most at six, one of which was a relay. And I've now done three tris as part of a relay. Team Rabbit. Had planned to do the Savage Oly as a relay in 2013, but opted not to at the last minute. 09/13/15 - Reston Oly. 05/31/15 - Rock Hall. 05/30/15 - Rock Hall International (relay). 06/02...

Fit To Be TRI'd: Bracket...busted!

http://trichick64.blogspot.com/2015/03/bracketbusted.html

Thursday, March 26, 2015. I got my bracket set up in time for the start of last Thursday's games and wondered how long before my bracket busted. Haha - I did not even last one day! But I followed the games through the weekend and updated my paper bracket so I would know who was playing who. Then I looked online to see my actual bracket. I was surprised! My Midwest bracket is still perfect! That is not busted! Too bad I didn't place a bet on that! At least my predicted winner is still in the running!

Fit To Be TRI'd: 200 what?

http://trichick64.blogspot.com/2015/03/200-what.html

Friday, March 6, 2015. Back on February 6 I mentioned something about wanting to swim a 100 butterfly. At the Colonies Zone Swim Meet. On the weekend of April 10-12. Since then, I've been trying to do at least 200 butterfly. On Sunday, April 12. I liker that idea also, because I could maybe cheer at the CB10 on Sunday like last year. Or run and / or ride myself. Anyway, I looked over the events. Of the day, and saw that the 100 Fly was not on Saturday. Nor was the 100 Individual Medley. Earlier this week...

Fit To Be TRI'd: Race? What race?

http://trichick64.blogspot.com/2015/06/race-what-race.html

Wednesday, June 10, 2015. For the second month this year (January being the first) I have no races on the calendar! I went ‘raceless’ in January because my ankle was still sore from when I twisted it on a trail run the Sunday after Thanksgiving. And also ended my first try at a run streak! I thought I’d have at least one official race on my calendar for June, because there are several listed that are maybes! But I don’t think it is going to happen. One was the Ragnar Trail Relay that Team Rabbit. I think...

I must admit, that alone had been an overwhelming experience, with all the traffic, road closures, parking problems, expensive parking garages and people everywhere. Running on the Fly

Running on the Fly. Thursday, August 13, 2015. A Group Run (and a new pair of shoes.). A lot can happen on a Wednesday evening, especially after a busy morning (doing speed work on the track) and working most of the day. How about knocking a couple "bonus miles" at a group run? Have you ever done a group run? I don't have the opportunity to take part in them very often, but when I do hook up with a bunch of other like-minded people, it's always a great time. I became acquainted with Kris, owner of We Run.

Sunday, May 23, 2010. And slow it was. I took the run 4 minutes/walk 1 minute approach and the breakdown into 5 minute chunks made the whole thing more palatable somehow. The humidity was not helpful and the two loops of Prospect Park were steamy indeed. It was nice to see my co-worker Sam on the course (twice) and very nice to have the water stations stacked to the brim with cups at every turn! I was hurting and I remembered regretting that I hadn't taken a dunk in Lake San Antonio after the ride at Wil...

The training has begun!!

The training has begun! Monday, 18 April 2011. I am so proud to be saying: 'we did it and it feels great! It is not something one does on a daily basis, but my word, what an amazing feeling! The run was much better than I had imagined, though it certainly was not 'easy'! It was down to my persistence that I continued running to the finishing line - what a feeling! I am feeling very old together as my leg muscles are asking what I have done to them! Thanks again to you all for your kind support along this...
