Mad Margaret's Musings: January 2006
http://madgesmusings.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
One woman's fight against the rot. Tuesday, January 17, 2006. The Shed Saga 2. Thank heaven for yellow pages. I decided to look up a new shed man to get another quote. Book opened on the conservatory page and wonders to behold, there was a small local business dealing with sheds - or garden offices as they like to call them. So I phoned him up and he came round at the weekend. He said the conservatory was rather nice and why move it in the first place? Why not put the shed around it? Kat then decided to ...

One woman's fight against the rot. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. One wedding and a funeral. Long time since I've updated blog. Have been busy getting married and burying my dad. Sadly, he died 2 days after wedding, when we were on honeymoon, but all that's over now and I hope to get on with painting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mad Margaret's Musings: February 2006
http://madgesmusings.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
One woman's fight against the rot. Monday, February 27, 2006. Starting to get back to art. Have finally got out the oil paints and started to make an effort. And God what an effort! I had no idea how to paint with the damn things and had to trawl the internet to find a few tips. Started a portrait of Bruce and Trev, but it's going to be a long haul. Painted in Trev's head and not displeased. Went back to Trev head and totally repainted it. What a difference! Thursday, February 23, 2006.

Dawn of the Dev. The musings of Kat Crichton-Seager, artist / musician / coder. Friday, 19 October 2012. I’ve finally worked out why Thunderbird email has been almost unusable since upgrading my various Ubuntu machines to Precise Pangolin 12.04. The symptoms were very sluggish Thunderbird interface response, leading to a segmentation fault crash. The crashes only happened sometimes and didn’t seem to follow a pattern of time from start-up. Seems to have been responsible. EDS. Is the Evolution Data Server.

Dawn of the Dev: Learning Erlang Recursion

Dawn of the Dev. The musings of Kat Crichton-Seager, artist / musician / coder. Monday, 20 February 2012. I’m learning the Erlang Programming Language. And am currently working on the recursion exercise. In the erlang course. The min and max functions seemed pretty straightforward;. Min([X,Y]) when X Y - Y; min([X, ]) - X; min([H T]) - min(H,min(T) . max([X,Y]) when X Y - X; max([ ,Y]) - Y; max([H T]) - max(H,max(T) . min max(List) - {min(List),max(List)}. Can anyone improve on that?

Dawn of the Dev. The musings of Kat Crichton-Seager, artist / musician / coder. Monday, 20 July 2009. Speed Camera Law Change. Or prejudice the law enforcement agencies. Against anyone who expresses a point of view. The introduction of GATSO. Speed cameras seems to have been the thin edge of another wedge. Speed cameras were introduced “to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured in road collisions”. This sounds great, less people hurt or killed, who could complain? A crash in the process.

Dawn of the Dev. The musings of Kat Crichton-Seager, artist / musician / coder. Tuesday, 29 December 2009. Comments vs Readable Code. There is a widely. Mantra of Extreme Programming that says that comments are superfluous. Inaccurate and often out-of-date meta-information just makes your self-describing code and accompanying tests harder to read and understand. It is dogma that leads to this problem. It is important to remember that “no comments” is mantra. Okay, sometimes higher level architectural str...
