Profiterole Vision: March 2012

http://profiterole-vision.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 26 March 2012. We have a winner. The snowbank is no more. Here is the little that was left yesterday morning (with dog for scale, not because he is an attention seeking muppet):. And now the space is bare. It survived remarkably well considering the temperatures last week, we rocked up to 27.4 on Wednesday according to the Ottawa Citizen. Thursday, 22 March 2012. It is still there, but diminished dramatically over the last three sunny days. This is the view this morning:. Not much else to report,...

The Jilly Knits...: Right to the Heart

http://thejilly.blogspot.com/2008/08/right-to-heart.html

Since I'm always getting bored and needing to learn something new, I thought it might be nice to have a place to keep track of my lastest projects. And why not be able to access it from anywhere and share it with everyone? So, here it is. For now, I guess this will be my knitting blog. I'll try to keep track of pattern names, yarn used, problems, etc. And I'd like a "photo library" of sorts to document all the finished projects. Friday, August 22, 2008. Right to the Heart. Or is it just me? Crafty Pancak...

Julia's Sewing Blog: I'm back!

http://juliasewing.blogspot.com/2011/09/im-back.html

In which I make some clothes, expound on the virtues of the flat fell seam finish, and proclaim "you CAN sew your own clothes, and even wear them in public". Monday, September 26, 2011. I seem to have taken the entire summer off and more. Good for me! You can check out a bit of a holiday we had in New York State, if you are interested, at my Flickr site here. I folded the bias around the raw edge and folded under the ends and sewed the whole thing down. I also pick stitched all around the neck edge, to k...

Castlebrook Village: July 2008

http://castlebrookvillage.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 23, 2008. July 23, 2008. I guess no news is good news. Not much new in the 'hood these days. And it's not even the dog days of summer, what with all this rain and not-that-hot-but-man-is-it-humid weather. We heard sounds of cheering from the park and went for a walk after dinner last night to check it out. Every single soccer pitch was full with teams playing and some were even practising on the outfield of the ball diamond in between. It was a beautiful evening to be outside. July 2, 2008.

Castlebrook Village: November 2007

http://castlebrookvillage.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 29, 2007. November 29, 2007. Today was so mild that the ducks were back! And I had my camera so I got these pix. Not great wild life shots, I will admit. But they are representative and I got to stand there and watch the ducks doing whatever it is that they were doing. Wednesday, November 28, 2007. November 28, 2007. Monday, November 26, 2007. November 26, 2007. Today, I mostly took pix of the bike and foot paths. For years, I have bemoaned the fact that some of these paths are not...

Castlebrook Village: May 2008

http://castlebrookvillage.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 7, 2008. May 7, 2008. Finally I took my camera with me on my morning run and now I have pix of the beaver damage. You might want to click on this one to see it larger. As well, it has notes on it to point out where the hole in the bank of the island is, which may possibly be the beaver's home. The downed trees look like they were a clump of three trunks together before the beavers chewed them through. Except, I don't think beavers make tunnels. Monday, May 5, 2008. May 5, 2008. Wednesday, July 2, 2008. July 2, 2008. Interesting how Minto has its own building wrap, custom made just for it. Interesting how it's not made in Canada. But then, maybe they don't make building wrap up here. A couple of days ago, we were out for a bike ride and down by the Ottawa River, which is still high for this time of year - all that rain! We strolled over to Nepean City Hall and except for a few people, the place was deserted. The fountain always looks nice. So there I was, sitting out the back, r...

Castlebrook Village: August 4. 2008

http://castlebrookvillage.blogspot.com/2008/08/august-4-2008.html

Monday, August 4, 2008. August 4. 2008. Yesterday, we went for a stroll around the park. We'd seen this road sign on Saturday evening, flashing out in the soccer field. It was obviously purloined from the Minto construction area. It looked kind of funny, cute even, sitting out there in the field in the dark, flashing away. Sunday, it had been moved to this spot by an entrance to the park. I wonder if Minto will come get it? The geese saw him coming and steamed over in a long flotilla. That surprised me&#...

Castlebrook Village: December 2007

http://castlebrookvillage.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 28, 2007. December 28, 2007. What I saw today was bunny tracks. Today, I noticed bunny tracks for the first time in the years since his demise. There is some cover on this hillside - some sturdy evergreens. But it doesn't look like there are many resources and I am not sure where the rabbit would have its home. In this third photo, the dark grey at the top of the photo is the driveway at the bottom of the steep slope. Thursday, December 27, 2007. December 27, 2007. I checked what pix wer...

Knitting it all together

Knitting it all together. Knitting, books and movies, etc. Thursday, December 04, 2014. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. November by the numbers:. I finished book 52 of my book-a-week-in-2014 reading challenge. I'm still reading and will probably count at least three more before the new year. The last was Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. A tear-jerker of a novel. It was one of 15 books to get a five-star rating from me this year. Of those, my favorite was a classic, Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White. And I ...

Knit ‘n tink. September 25, 2007. I missed my invitation from Ravelry when I was on holiday but luckily my nickname was still available when I joined last week. I haven’t added much projects and stash but I really enjoy looking what all of you are knitting. It is really great you can just type in a yarn or a pattern and go on for hours and hours…. Bye the way I’m over there as kaita. September 24, 2007. Yes that’s me (just for scaling). Sometimes the coast path looks more like a hiking highway. I haven&#...

Knit Nude

Friday, January 14, 2011. Now just because this blog has 'knit' in the name, don't think I don't love EVERYTHING involving yarn. Crochet was my first love, and though most things I make now are knitted, it will always have a place in my heart. This was the first scarf I made, and it was a magic transforming scarf! I'm never quite sure what to do with shawls, apart from being naked in them. Though I suppose that's be good enough? And a bikini top! That's all for now! Tuesday, December 14, 2010.

KnitNut Natters

Monday, March 05, 2012. When I was 13, I had a run-in with my Art teacher. The assignment was simple, draw some shapes ( circles, rectangles, triangles), overlap a few and then paint them in 3 primary colours. Let's just say I failed. In hindsight I remember my piece to be extremely hideous, didn't follow the lines, splotches and smudges everywhere. Being a silly rebellious teenager, the only thing I took away from that lesson was that I was hopeless in art and never really tried again. Lately I have bee...

Monday, January 16, 2012. I guess it would actually help if I posted on my blog more regularly instead of when I happen to think about it. I woke up on December 31 with the following thought: Twelve in 12. Twelve is a significant number. 12 in a dozen. 12 tribes of Israel. 12 months in a year. I have TWELVE goals for this year. I will list them in order of importance:. 1 Grow my relationship with God. 2 Build and grow relationships with others (family and friends). 4 Get finances in order. I'll keep you ...
