knitsarina: Something old, something new
http://knitsarina.blogspot.com/2014/12/something-old-something-new.html
Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Friday, December 19, 2014. Something old, something new. Yes, that is for weddings but that is what I was up to today. I have been having a problem with my Viajante. A simple slip st edging just looked too wimpy in the contrast yarn so I did a scallop edging and I am very happy with the result. A close-up of the scallop edging. That was the new. New crochet and new edging. And now for the old. I found this the other day when I was decluttering. It is ...A giant fiber...
knitsarina: Melbourne
http://knitsarina.blogspot.com/2014/11/melbourne.html
Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Sunday, November 9, 2014. But this time we were there on holiday. Our vacation hotel was on the other side of the Yarra river from where I usually stay. This was nice as it gave me a different perspective on the city. Melbourne has gorgeous Victorian architecture so we spent the morning walking around the city center looking at buildings. Flinders Street station - across the street from the modern architecture above. A row of yarnbombed trees. From the cricket ground...
knitsarina: Spindle spinning a gradient
http://knitsarina.blogspot.com/2012/10/spindle-spinning-gradient.html
Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Sunday, October 7, 2012. Spindle spinning a gradient. Recently there have been a couple of threads on Ravelry about how to spin a gradient. I thought I would document how I plan to spin a gradient. The gradient in question is Corgi Hill Farm. S merino/silk in a color called Mangosteen. I first split the entire braid into two long strips of equal weight. As my spindle fills, I am going to wind off the single onto plying balls. Once the two singles are spun and wound o...
knitsarina: How to make stitch markers
http://knitsarina.blogspot.com/2013/09/how-to-make-stitch-markers.html
Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Saturday, September 7, 2013. How to make stitch markers. After last week's stitch marker making session, I was motivated to make more this weekend. I went back to my old method this time. I also took photos to show you how I have been making them. I have put crimps on both ends of the beads also. To do that, you thread the wire:. Beads in the same order as above. I have also been spinning a lot this week. Remember the Briar Rose BFL I started last week? That is all f...
knitsarina: July 2015
http://knitsarina.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Friday, July 31, 2015. Tour de Fleece 2015. Since I always seem to be traveling during the Tour de Fleece, I end up focusing on spindle spinning. This year was no exception. I had started a very fine thread spin last year during the TdF and didn't make much progress on it during the year. I continued with it during this year's TdF. This was the starting point. That little Trindle. Is about 5" long and weighs 4 gms empty. I am spinning Corgi Hill Farm. I completely fo...

And knits and knits. Friday, February 27, 2015. If you are reading this we're off to Indianapolis for our annual knitting getaway. Oh what fun, but hopefully not in a one horse open sleigh. In a nice SUV. We're off to three or four yarn shops today and at least three tomorrow. I've got the goodie bags already to go. Finally narrowed down my knitting to take along. Thursday, February 26, 2015. Knitting for a Three Hour Tour. Can we just get a break? Those pesky mittens. Nope, I did not get them finish...

Monday, September 22, 2008. I did some work on the Hanne Flakenberg Plisse jacket on Sunday:. This is the back, or part of it. The texture stitch and the intriguing method of construction keep this project interesting. All for now. But at least I got a bit of knitting done. Progress is Good. Have been loving your vacation trip, too. Oh, and I promise no more forgotten high school French in comments! September 22, 2008 at 9:16 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). And She Knits Too! MaggieB Knits: July 2008
http://maggiebknits.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Bridget Rorem's gorgeous shawl, modeled by Mary. I have always wondered about using an oval doily or tablecloth pattern to make a shawl and here is a lovely one:. Poppy and her skirt:. Shelley had a yarn shortage, she thought, and incorporated a bunch of other yarns into her sweater design, to stretch the shortage. Humorously, afterwards she still had two large skeins of the yarn she'd worried about running out of! Janine's Leo vest, using Armenian Knitting. Links to this post.
MaggieB Knits: Knitting mail
http://maggiebknits.blogspot.com/2008/09/knitting-mail.html
Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Yesterday was a good day for knitting mail. First, my September issue of Woolgathering. The design on the cover is an old, previously unpublished design concept (well, the yoke chart was the discovery) that Meg found in EZ's notes. She also has an old photo of her sister Lloie wearing a variant. What I find intriguing about this photo, and the design, is that when I look at the dark brown sweater I see downward pointing pairs of leaves, separated by narrow vertical lines.
MaggieB Knits: June 2008
http://maggiebknits.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 23, 2008. Yesterday I missed out on my usual Sunday knitting spell (during a soccer game) and instead worked on my Shetland shawl when we got home. My husband commented that my shawl was looking really good. Naturally I had to hold it up, stretch it out some, for him to more accurately admire it. Pride truly goeth before destruction. because the circular needle holding my stitches dropped the last 8 inches of knitting off both ends. No biggie, I can pick it up. It will block out and ultimate...
MaggieB Knits: Roskilde and on to Copenhagen
http://maggiebknits.blogspot.com/2008/09/roskilde-and-on-to-copenhagen.html
Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Roskilde and on to Copenhagen. This is Roskilde Cathedral, which is built where Harold Bluetooth originally built a church. His church was wood and is long since gone, of course- and the cathedral was built in its place. The cathedral is quite impressive. It has served as the burial location for the Danish royal family, for centuries. Many separate crypts and sections have been added on through the years, for various family elements. However, I saw the sign too late- and wo...

Everyone has their problems, everyone has their fears, everyone has their responsibilities. When we have this much to consider on a daily basis, our minds become cluttered and it is difficult to focus on the beauty around us and in the people we value. We all need a way to escape from this chaos sometimes to remember the beauty in living. For me, that escape is found in knitting. I hope you enjoy viewing this inventory; my exploration into the art of knitting. Mar 2, 2009. Oct 17, 2008. Jun 19, 2008.

Thursday, January 21, 2010. Mr Purple Greenjeans AKA The Dissertation Sweater. Led me to Mr. Greenjeans. As you can see, my Mr. Greenjeans is actually purple. I'm knitting it with Rowan Calmer. 493 (how appropriate). It is affectionately known to me as THE DISSERTATION SWEATER. I hope to wear it when this dissertation is but a distant memory. For now, I'm in the beginnings of the cable rows. Wish me luck. Posted by Wendy DG @ Thursday, January 21, 2010. Posted by Wendy DG @ Thursday, January 21, 2010.

Life as a Journey, not a Destination. Wednesday, March 14, 2018. More spinning, weavi, some knitting. I have been in a spinning mood. I am winding a warp for the floor loom but mostly I've been spinning. I'll start with the knitting as it is easier. I finished the red fingerless mitts with some leftover yarn. They only needed the thumbs. The thumbs are fat because the yarn is thicker but when I wear them, they are OK. I also finished the little Navajo rug. It looks crooked because I let the sides dra...
