This Summer of Mum. I don’t want to. It is as simple as that. I just don’t want to. But they have had holidays, and trips, and camping, and music camp, and time lots and lots of my time. When is it enough? When do I stop trying to fill that hole that lives just inside my chest and recognize that stuffing things into them will never change what is past and acknowledge that it is in the better interest of myself and my children if I slow down and take a breath. Head in the clouds: the messy underneath. I am fascinated by the bottom-side of my embroidery creations. With all the knots and turns and clutter; unkempt and sporadic, messy and beautiful. This image strikes a note, deep and familiar. This slight pattern amid the chaos -these are my days, my years woven all together into a jumble. My feeble attempt at a something beyond me and yet placed in my hands. All my up-close pulling at threads my myopic working out of a life, best viewed from the other-side.

What would you call a grouping of dragons? Don’t move too quickly, and try to contain your panic …but dragons are building nests and reproducing in my house. I suppose that is because we live in a dragon friendly queendom. But they have me wondering: What does one call a grouping of Dragons? A flame, a hoard ….
