Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Thursday, January 12, 2017. Growing up with Chinatown. Monkey King (Summer 2016). During the last week of December, I was with a friend who has never heard of mochi ice cream. 8220;Chinatown adventure time,” I say. When we arrived, my friend ordered a strawberry mochi while I ordered the sakura, nothing like the taste of the spring during the winter. We sat down and chatted. My friend asked me how much Chinatown changed since I was a kid. It took me ...

http://www.bostonchinatownblog.org/2016_11_01_archive.html
Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Chinatown is flooded: Washington Street, Watermain burst and a fire. Not only was the street Flooded earlier (by the time I got there it was cleaned up more or less) but there was a fire as well and a building had to be evacuated. What exactly happened and how will the businesses be affected? When I made the video I didn't realize there was a fire as well. Review on Tiger Style! In Boston: More Food for Asian Thought.

BOSTON CHINATOWN BLOG: Spicy World
http://www.bostonchinatownblog.org/2017/01/spicy-world.html
Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Tuesday, January 10, 2017. This weekend Grace and I went on an adventure to Spicy World in Chinatown. I was stoked to try it because most of my other friends usually aren't a big fan of spicy, and after this trip I kind of empathized. We only got level 1 spice in our noodle broth and it was plenty of punch. I really enjoyed it! I'd say Spicy World is really into something, overall I was very impressed! Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Friday, September 30, 2016. A Night of Inspiration. The Chinese Historical Society. Honored Amy Guen tonight, also known as Auntie Amy, for her life of service to the Chinatown community. There were poetry readings by Cynthia Yee and Athena Chu (I should talk to them. BOSTON CHINATOWN BLOG: October 2016

Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Monday, October 31, 2016. Dressing up as Fake Monks. I read on the CCBA bulletin board that there are a bunch of fake monks in Chinatown begging for money. By Fake, I guess it is that they are just people who are dressed as monks trying to get you to give them money but they don't belong to any Buddhist organization per se. I am sort of a Buddhist, and a Christian and other stuff and an atheist. In the end it's still begging right? As for me, I do li...

Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Coming Soon: Golden Garden! This just in from Malden's Little Chinatown: Yet a new Asian restaurant is coming our way! I spotted this a few weeks ago when a friend was driving me home. I've stalked it through the window on my way home quite a few times. And, as funny fate would have it my new job is directly behind this lot, so I'll be checking up on it. Can't wait to test them out. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

BOSTON CHINATOWN BLOG: The Spirit of Guan Gong
http://www.bostonchinatownblog.org/2017/01/the-spirit-of-guan-gong.html
Exploring the identity, heart and soul of a community. Monday, January 2, 2017. The Spirit of Guan Gong. In my interview with Ken Liu, I asked him what audience he had in mind when writing. His answer was, "All my stories are intended for a reader exactly like me.". I have been reading his story, "All the Flavors, A Tale of Guan Yu, the Chinese God of War, in America.". And I really feel like this story will have to be cannonized as part of the Cheung Family Kung Fu curriculum. But more than that. Ke...
