Exciting news of a donor! – Stem Cell Transplant Journey

Stem Cell Transplant Journey. Exciting news of a donor! No one every imagines they will be diagnosed with leukaemia and they certainly don’t expect to have a transplant. Thanks to the amazing team at St Bart’s, London I am in remission, I’ve managed to tolerate months of chemo, phases where I was neutropenic and I’m now in a position to go ahead with the transplant. I’m enjoying a quiet day today relaxing at home, spending time with my cat who has missed me a lot over the past four months. Fun in the sun.

Thank goodness for 18 year old men – Stem Cell Transplant Journey
https://stemcelltransplantjourney.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/thank-goodness-for-18-year-old-men
Stem Cell Transplant Journey. Thank goodness for 18 year old men. I discovered that my donor is an 18 year old male. Does that mean I’ll be 18 in a month or so? My nephews are only a year or two younger, than him. To me they seem callow pups and to think this young man is prepared to put himself out for a complete stranger, at such a tender age. I’m dumb struck! Bedtime….after all I have clinic tomorrow. July 21, 2015. 2 thoughts on “ Thank goodness for 18 year old men. July 23, 2015 at 8:04 am. Day 201 ...

Dreaming of Christmas cake – Stem Cell Transplant Journey

Stem Cell Transplant Journey. Dreaming of Christmas cake. I remember signing the original consent form, back in March and my friend was with me, tears were welling up in her eyes as the doctor discussed the long list of potential side effects. (Please note, she then asked him if I was allowed to drink alcohol, clearly this is very important at such a time! Just a few ingredients. If only photos were scratch and sniff, smells divine. Letter to Superman – Stem Cell Transplant Journey
https://stemcelltransplantjourney.wordpress.com/2015/07/27/letter-to-superman
Stem Cell Transplant Journey. I’m getting fatter by the day! Since I was discharged I’ve been going out catching up with friends and family, the result of which is an expanding waistline so in many ways I’ll be relieved to return to Barts! To make matters worse within a five day period my family had 3 birthdays to celebrate (including my own) so it really has been a period of over indulgence and due to the shockingly poor weather I’ve not been able to stretch my legs. With her drink of passion🙂. On Day ...

Living the nightmare – Stem Cell Transplant Journey
https://stemcelltransplantjourney.wordpress.com/2015/08/15/living-the-nightmare
Stem Cell Transplant Journey. The sun failed to shine, to help me show the Scallop at its best. As I desperately miss countryside and wildlife when I’m confined to my temporary London residence, otherwise known as Barts, I took the opportunity to visit the local National Trust venue to learn more about bats, as well as see and hear them. It was an absolutely enthralling evening learning about bats and as I have no hair I didn’t have to worry about them getting tangled up in it! August 15, 2015. Day 248 R...

Setbacks, shoes and sassy aprons – Stem Cell Transplant Journey

Stem Cell Transplant Journey. Setbacks, shoes and sassy aprons. I had some disappointing news this week; Superman isn’t available at present and therefore can’t commit to the date Barts proposed for my Stem Cell Transplant. I am lead to believe he will be available post the 4. Sunday Girl also have an apron range for children, it’s just a shame I have so many nephews, I expect my niece may well get lucky this Christmas. Homemade birthday cake totally outshone by the Sassy SundayGirl Company apron. On Day...

Bone marrow aspiration…..hopefully a thing of the past!!! – Stem Cell Transplant Journey

Stem Cell Transplant Journey. Bone marrow aspiration….hopefully a thing of the past! Woohoo.in theory (and I’m desperately hoping reality) I’ve had my last bone marrow aspiration! I’m still making the most of my time away from Bart’s Hospital. Having recovered from a very busy weekend socialising (do you like my polite way of saying I drank a little too much! It goes without saying that I’ve been having lots of cuddles with my cat and spoiling him rotten. As Sigmund Freud said ‘time spent with cats i...
