Image of the Day Archive. Jul 8, 2015. The view of downtown as we were pulling out of the port. When this big ol’ ship starts making its way into the Atlantic, it gets some attention. The Westin Hotel we stayed at is in the middle of the picture somewhere. I love this perspective. Up the coast, from about 150 feet above the water. Big ship. Took awhile to get acclimated. So I said, “Hey – do your Miley Cyrus imitation.”. A traditional Puerto Rican dessert…alledgedly…served at Raices. Just coming into port.

Image of the Day Archive. Jul 8, 2015. I was invited to stay at John’s cottage on Drakes Island in Wells, Maine, in May, 2015. Always a fun time, it’s been, more or less, a quasi-annual pilgrimage since the 70s. I’ve been going up there since my sophomore or junior year of college. I usually fly up to Boston or Portland from Tampa. Even driven it once or twice. But I’d always wanted to try taking Amtrak. Never did a long-distance train trek. So…why not? Missing the bus, in retrospect? Not a big deal.
