Wine Gums: Buy Smarter and Drink Better Wines
http://wine-gums.blogspot.com/2009/10/jamie-goodes-wine-blog-is-educating.html
Tuesday, 6 October 2009. Buy Smarter and Drink Better Wines. If people are happy with their lot then who am I, or indeed any of us, to comment or pass judgement on their choice of wine? I would much rather help one person who is interesting in expanding their wine experience rather than berating any one group into changing their own lifestyle choices. For further goodies about these ideas see whats happening over at Wine Conversation. Who are working with The Wine Gang Live. Post by Jamie Go. You cant ta...
Wine Gums: January 2009
http://wine-gums.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 January 2009. Its good to talk. The Wine Society £8.50 (tasted 8.1-'09). A jolly good Sauvignon-Semillion blend grand vin du Bordeaux blanc with a natural cork coming in at 12%. Bright medium gold with a clean and light fruity mellon nose. Dry with fresh acidity, no tannin, the medium body gives more citrus fruit and pear flavours. Nice simple length. A v. Ery good wine worthy of the half case stash in the cellar. Posted by Chris Townend. Thursday, 29 January 2009. To taste more wine;. If I ...

Saturday, 11 April 2009. My Center Parcs Wines. On Monday we're off to Stalag Luft Whinfell Forest for five days with the Murphs. Four adults and three kids; but in truth we really have three adults and three kids because Mrs T is somewhat pre-occupied with the impending delivery. I know that every day the eternal battle between parents and children will be fought in the Cumbrian woodland: who will tire first? Azienda San Martino Barolo 2000. Clos de L'Oratoire Des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2001. Back i...
Wine Gums: One for the boys
http://wine-gums.blogspot.com/2011/01/one-for-boys.html
Sunday, 30 January 2011. One for the boys. Looking back through my tasting notes I have noticed reoccurring themes and that the wines tend to fall into two broad groups - no, not red or white - but pointy and curvy. What am I talking about? However, at its worst young wine will be agressive and unapproachable. So, if in my wine-world new wines are pointy, the mature wines must be curvy. Time mellows a wine, eroding the edges like a pebble which is washed on the beach. Over time, the individual ch...Which...

Thursday, 10 March 2011. The Find Wine Competition Review - my big chance. My initial excitement after receiving my sample bottle of The Opportunist Shiraz from Find Wine. Was beginning to fade as I struggled to round up five friends to help me review the wine. Modern family life seems determined to make what should be the simplest of tasks difficult. But you can depend on your work colleagues. One Chain Vineyard The Opportunist Shiraz 2008. Lets see what the panel thought…. Posted by Chris Townend.

Monday, 30 March 2009. A large proportion of wines tasted to date have been sourced from the. An institution I cannot recommend highly enough. I am especially fond of my membership as it was a leaving gift, together with a rather nice deposit in my account, from my last company. Their service, choice, and knowledge is second to none and their mixed-cases are a great route to new wines. Picking Christmas wines in September? 160;Well I suppose it coincides with the switch-on of the Christmas lights.
Wine Gums: 4/10 must try harder
http://wine-gums.blogspot.com/2011/01/410-must-try-harder.html
Monday, 24 January 2011. 4/10 must try harder. I have been totally underwhelmed recently by the ever increasing number of identikit white wines being offered to the public. New World sauvignon blancs seem determined to make the same mistake chardonnay producers did ten years ago - taking the characteristics which made everyone fall in love with the wine and than amplifying them to Frankenstein proportions. So what next for the white wine drinker: a return to oaked chardonnay? This is a "blah" Chilean win...
Wine Gums: It will end in tears
http://wine-gums.blogspot.com/2011/01/it-will-end-in-tears.html
Monday, 31 January 2011. It will end in tears. The battle between good and evil has been joined. The propaganda peddled by. No, not the monkey-loving pop freak but the now dear departed Beer Hunter) has proved too compelling and I found myself today stood at the counter of. Clutching these seven bottles of Blegium's finest and feeling somewhat uncomfortable about what's to come:. St Bernardus Pater 6. St Bernardus Prior 8. St Bernardus Abt 12. And I don't like the way the monk is looking at me.

Latitude Wine and Liquor Merchant. October 17, 2012 · 4:00 pm. Last Friday was the perfect sunny autumn day to open these two delicious reds, the Boutinot Séguret and the Dignité Syrah. The Dignité proved to the most popular, most customers who tried it ended up taking a bottle (or two in some cases) home with them. A very successful tasting if you ask me. Meaty dishes, such as a lamb shank or a nice hearty casserole will partner beautifully with this wine. Perfect going into the winter months. Again pai...
