The Funny Side of Alzheimer’s. If I Didn’t Laugh, I Would Cry. Laquo; ‘Tis the Season to Be Jolly. One Year Gone :(. Update on Gramps’ Condition. April 25, 2011 by ndrees. Even though I’ve stopped updating this blog, people keep finding it and asking for updates. Since Gramps, at 97-years old, is now in an assisted-living facility, I don’t have daily interaction with him, and hence, no stories. You can see all the stages here. And does cold cereal really matter? Getting angry at the patient, or trying to...

The Funny Side of Alzheimer’s. If I Didn’t Laugh, I Would Cry. Laquo; The Exterminator. 8216;Tis the Season to Be Jolly. A Little In the Fog. November 14, 2008 by ndrees. I had to run an errand for a client, so I took Gramps with me. It required driving through a city that is notoriously foggy, and yesterday was no exception. The financial cost of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease can be overwhelming and is estimated to be about $50,000 per year in direct medical expenses. Good one, Gramps!

Happy 4th of July! | Never Forget

https://kellywhittington.wordpress.com/2013/07/04/happy-4th-of-july

Past, Present, or Future? Know the Facts →. Happy 4th of July! July 4, 2013. Is not going exactly how I had expected. My grandpa is in the hospital with a bad infection. My poor grandma is so confused as to what’s going on right now. She did not understand last night why she had to leave her husband at the hospital. She wanted him to leave with her. That just broke my heart. I never ever pictured my family spending a holiday like this. I love that woman more than I can express. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Past, Present, or Future? | Never Forget

https://kellywhittington.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/past-present-or-future

Happy 4th of July! Past, Present, or Future? July 2, 2013. I helped my mom make dinner for my grandma last night and that was quite an experience! My grandma was not very mentally clear last night, in fact she thought my mom (her daughter-in-law) was her sister and my dad (her son) was her brother. She also had a hard time remembering how I was related to her. This part of the disease is so sad! I absolutely hate the thought of my grandma not knowing who I am, but unfortunately that is reality right now.

Safety First! | Never Forget

https://kellywhittington.wordpress.com/2013/06/28/saftey-first

Past, Present, or Future? June 28, 2013. Remember when you were a kid and you fell down the stairs? Remember how much that hurt? Ok, now image 75 years later falling down those stairs again, sounds much more painful doesn’t it? At this point you are weaker, not nearly as agile, and you definitely will not recover as quickly (if at all). That is exactly what my family and I are trying to prevent from happening with my grandma. Does anyone have any other ideas to help keep their loved ones safe? You are co...
