Gulf encounters: August 2012
http://gulfencounters.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Monday, August 27, 2012. Let's enjoy the Indian summer. I've been back from my holidays for over 10 days now, it's about time I got back to writing. Truth is, I've been putting it off because I didn't know where to start. And I still don't! So I'll just recap the summer as I remember it:. Paris from the Eiffel Tower. Paris - Notre Dame. And before I knew it (although I had a 36-hour trip to realize), I was back in good ol' Al-Jubail! For instance I couldn'...

Gulf encounters: October 2013
http://gulfencounters.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Monday, October 28, 2013. The Lion King - live! Please forgive my ignorance. my only African reference thus far was Disney's The Lion King. And a great reference indeed! I found the South African land just as I had expected! Thorny bush and dry savanna. A kudu (until a week ago, I had thought that was a cheap, tasteless fast-food chain from KSA. Look at the baby elephant, it was only a couple of days old and still struggled to walk. And their darker side!

My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Tuesday, July 1, 2014. We don't need anything but tacos and amigos. And we hadn't had our dosis in two years! It was about time we went to Mexico, and what we did was mainly being with friends, and eating tacos for two weeks! Barbacoa tacos for breakfast. And that, kids, is how you eat a taco. Delicious lunch at El Granero. Coconut ice-cream in El Porvenir, Tampico. Playing like kids in a Lego corner in Liverpool department store. Ferris wheel in Monterrey.

Gulf encounters: October 2012
http://gulfencounters.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Thursday, October 25, 2012. Crazy pretty adorable women. It's so difficult to talk about our life in KSA once out of KSA. Starting with describing the kind of friends we have there, they are just so different from the ones we have back home! So I thought I'd make a list of the kind of people you're bound to encounter as an expat in KSA:. Usually from a rich gastronomic culture (Italy, Latin America, . France! The young mum who's just dropped her job. The t...

http://gulfencounters.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Monday, March 25, 2013. Getting to know our neighbours. You know how nowadays people may bump into their neighbours every once in a while but never actually get to know them? We decided we had to get to know ours a little better, so we crossed over to their garden, to see if we could find them outside enjoying the sunny afternoon, and indeed that's just what they were doing! Posted by Regia en exilio. Sunday, March 10, 2013. Will not let you down! I went b...

Gulf encounters: Seeking a bird's eye view (Oman 2/7)
http://gulfencounters.blogspot.com/2011/03/seeking-birds-eye-view-oman-27.html
My experience as a French expat in Saudi Arabia. Monday, March 28, 2011. Seeking a bird's eye view (Oman 2/7). Shocking news to start the day with. Bahla souq: the cattle is chained to this tree to be auctioned. It is said that people thought that the tree was inhabited by a jinn (spirit) and were afraid the jinn would fly off with the cattle; therefore they decided to tie down the tree with chains. Old mud walls in Bahla. Girl hiding behind a carved door. Jabrin Castle (built 1675). Sunrise around 6 am.
