Livin' la vida loca en Madrid. A play by play of my semester abroad in Europe! January 30, 2010. Today I took a day trip to Toledo, a nearby historical city with Christian, Jewish, and Muslim roots. Along the way we visited a cathedral (the second largest in Spain), synagogue, and mosque. We also had the chance to view one of my favorite pieces of art, El Greco's The Burial of the Count of Orgaz. We stopped for lunch (paella, chicken, and several bottles of wine) at a nearby hotel. Eight and a half hours after leaving the beautiful Terminal 4 of the Madrid Barajas Airport (pictured below), I landed in JFK. After a two hour traffic-filled ride, we turned onto Ballard Drive. On Gran Via for a completely different show: Nebbia. A Walk in the Park. On Sunday didn't bode well for renting a rowboat, so we returned on Wednesday for a relaxing ride. Also last weekend we went up north and visited the regions La Rioja (where the wine Rioja comes from) and País Vasco (Basque Country). The pictures. Taking it because I needed the credits in order to meet my program’s requirements (nothing else fit into my schedule). But the class is so painfully boring (could you tell that from it’s title?
