Ottawa to Paris: Last Days in Paris
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/last-days-in-paris.html
Friday, August 22, 2014. Last Days in Paris. We said goodbye to our neighborhood in Passy and camped out in a studio apartment for the last few days. I still want to get into one of these buildings and look out of those windows on top! The girls were great sports and after we could do no more cleaning, we headed out to play at Jardin du Luxembourg. It was a rainy last few days and we were lucky to move on a dry day. The boats are surprisingly heavy. One last chocolate eclair and and a glass of Sancerre.

Ottawa to Paris: Puy-de Dôme
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/puy-de-dome.html
Friday, August 22, 2014. We drove a few hours and arrived in Puy-de-Dôme, which is named after a dormant volcano. It is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution. On 4 March 1790. It was created from the former province. Puy-de-Dôme is part of the current region. And is surrounded by the departments of Loire. But it rained and rained and the clouds were so low that visibility was horrible. The weather was truly horrible, so we found this weirdness. To keep us busy. The molds...

Ottawa to Paris: July 2014
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 11, 2014. Pretty much everything we own is now in that shipping container and on its way to Ottawa (We hope! We have had a couple of crazy days. I am amazed by the efficiency and strength of the movers and very grateful for the kindness of our friends. There has been a lot of waiting around and, for the most part, the girls have been fabulous. The movers wrapped, boxed, and moved everything in one day. It was non-stop work. I can't compete with this. The girls' school is on this street.

Ottawa to Paris: Le Château de Murol
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/le-chateau-de-murol.html
Saturday, August 23, 2014. Le Château de Murol. At the beginning of the 12th century, there was probably a priimitive fort here that was erected in the 10th century. In 1380, Guillaume de Murol finished the outside fortress, built a donjon, and a second chapel. The chateau is on a big hill, which makes for a good climb and some great views. There was a lot to see and do inside the chateau grounds. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ida Akiko and Miki Frances. It's an expat life for us. Last Days in Paris.

Ottawa to Paris: April 2014
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Easter Sunday in Athens. Red eggs (in Greek: kokkina avga. Κόκκινα αυγά, pronounced KOH-kee-nah ahv-GHAH) are perhaps the brightest symbol of Greek Easter, representing the blood of Christ and rebirth. The eggs are traditionally dyed with yellow onion skins. We were happy to find a bakery open to buy something for breakfast. The woman working insisted that we all take a hard boiled egg and wished us Happy Easter. Traditional Easter bread with a red egg in the middle. These two ...

Ottawa to Paris: Home in Ottawa
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/home-in-ottawa.html
Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Our shipping container arrives! When the movers had unpacked half of our container they said they had as much trash as they had had for a full container twice the size of ours. Our French packers were a little crazy with the wrapping. Sylvia and Lillian had a grand time with the boxes. We are glad to be home. Thank you to all of our friends and to our families who have supported us throughout this experience and who have helped to make it all a lot more fun. Le Clos du Chevalier.

Ottawa to Paris: Soulliac and Lunegarde
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/soulliac-and-lunegarde.html
Monday, August 25, 2014. We stopped in Soulliac and saw Musée de l'Automate. The museum was even creepier than you could imagine. It was a mixture of some old and quite amazing automatons mixed with other very tacky things. Obviously, I do not share this passion. And I hate clowns. Next, we drove to the region of Le Lot. Where Pierre had found us a fabulous place to stay. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ida Akiko and Miki Frances. It's an expat life for us. Grambee and Jim and the U.S. of A!

Ottawa to Paris: Ottawa!
http://ottawatoparis.blogspot.com/2014/08/ottawa.html
Tuesday, August 26, 2014. We arrived back in Ottawa to an empty house. Friends set us up with everything we needed to camp out and wait for our things to arrive. Lillian was whisked off for a birthday sleepover. I was e-mailed photos (like the one above) from time to time. Not bad! We headed to the National Gallery. Lillian and Pierre spent over an hour attempting to creating Tom Thompson's The Jack Pine. It doesn't get too much more Candian that that. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
