Janice in Caunes: With knobs on
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2015/05/with-knobs-on.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Friday, 22 May 2015. We have been back in Caunes for just over a week. I am still contemplating how I want my blog to develop, without just repeating the annual pattern of what happens in our lives, shared between Yorkshire and the Minervois. However, I haven't got very far with my contemplation . I have been too busy. We actually liked the decor, with a few minor exceptions. the pink bathroom had to go! We talked about getting...

Janice in Caunes: January 2015
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Thursday, 22 January 2015. Catholics and Salvationists.our very own Broad Church. Leopold Frederick Murch was one of my great grandmother ( Florence) s’ brothers. He was just over one year older than her, born in Devonport, Plymouth, in 1857. Sothe Catholic connection was made. Information I have discovered more recently has shown that the Murch family were indeed religiously “ interesting”. Leopold’s 1922 obituary, in Wa...

Janice in Caunes: Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath and the Stubbing Wharf
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2012/03/ted-hughes-and-sylvia-plath-and.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Sunday, 4 March 2012. Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath and the Stubbing Wharf. I have spent the last week or so re-reading some of both Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath’s work, and as I want my blogging exploits to try to capture something of the two places I live, I decided to indulge myself with a Calder Valley/ mills/ chapels/ dry stone walls/crows and ravens sort of post. Hebden Bridge’s two bookshops. This is the Calder valley that ...

Janice in Caunes: July 2014
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Wednesday, 30 July 2014. Down, down, deeper and down. There is much debate in Caunes this week about last week’s Vendredi Classique concert. Argentinian tango, from the early 20. Century and more modern pieces were played by a really talented trio, on piano, bass and accordion, accompanied by a stunning mezzo soprano ( Daniele Scotte), and featuring a couple of tango dancers. They were not glamorous, they were not young, they w...

Janice in Caunes: November 2014
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Friday, 21 November 2014. Attic emptying and the joys of other people's junk. I think I can do without this in my home. France is somehow different. The house is bigger I suppose, so there is more room to display amazing finds. The real difference however, is that vide greniers are just so much more fun than car boot sales.and the weather tends to be better! A gorgeous old French board game.ludo with horses. I have found some o...

Janice in Caunes: Is it too late to learn the violin ?
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2012/08/is-it-too-late-to-learn-violin.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Sunday, 26 August 2012. Is it too late to learn the violin? Caunes manages to put on some incredible entertainment. The latest has been a series of Baroque concerts held in one of the marble quarries, next to Chateau Villerambert on the outskirts of the village. The setting, while bizarre on one level added a haunting beauty to the music. Natacha Gauthier, Violoncelle et Alban Tregoures, Clavecin. In the grounds of the Chateau.

Janice in Caunes: December 2014
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Saturday, 6 December 2014. I have so many potential posts buzzing around my head at the moment. I have been wanting to blog about gardening in the Minervois, comparing it with the Yorkshire gardening I do, including some details about a wonderful gardening course I went on in Caunes, just before I left. I want to write about some of the walks I've done since being back in Yorkshire. Soas all these things pile up in my head, and...

Janice in Caunes: July 2015
http://janiceincaunes.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sometimes these ponderings will be from Caunes, and sometimes from Yorkshire. Tuesday, 21 July 2015. This year's Le Tour adventure. Mark took this photo of Jane, Steve and I, as we arrived at a col in the Pyrenees. Our hotel, in Massat. The hotel was basic, but pretty and interesting. I could have done without the creepy dolls set out in the public areas,. And the bed could have been more comfortable and the décor in the French bathroom (which did not have a toilet) was fairly bizarre. We sat in the café...

For my 60th birthday party daughter Jess complied a timeline of my haircuts.here is a small selection! Comments aren't really needed for pudding basin cuts.why did our mothers do this to us? Hair bands.and the kids in matching granny knit jumpers. My American Lit lecturer just informing me that his zip had broken in his trousers. I don't know why it t...
